The 24-year-old\u2019s Mercury Prize 2025 nod comes for her 2025 mixtape &#8216;Fancy That,&#8217; which included the viral track, &#8216;Illegal.&#8217; The opening line \u201cMy name is Pink and I\u2019m really glad to meet you\u201d has been used as a sound in over 428,000 Instagram reels and 39 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/ckg3n15l7ygo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">million<\/a> TikToks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other first-time Mercury Award nominees besides PinkPantheress are Leeds-born musician <strong>Emma-Jean Thackray<\/strong> for her sophomore record &#8216;Weirdo,&#8217; <strong>Jacob Alon<\/strong>\u2019s debut album &#8216;In Limerence,&#8217; &#8216;Hamstrings and Hurricanes&#8217; by <strong>Joe Webb<\/strong>, and <strong>Martin Carthy<\/strong>, an 84-year-old singer and guitarist who is the oldest-ever nominee, receiving a nod for his eleven-track album &#8216;Transform Me Then Into A Fish.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"PinkPantheress - Illegal (Official Video)\" width=\"702\" height=\"527\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TFWXqLSr4ZM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wolf Alice<\/strong> and <strong>Pulp<\/strong> have been recognised for their albums \u2018The Clearing\u2019 and \u2018More\u2019 this year.
