It&#8217;s an electric clash of cultures, but for those brave enough to harness it, the potential is limitless. German DJ and producer STVW sensed this collision of worlds, dove straight into it, and now he stands at the epicenter of a groundbreaking movement, acting as the architect of a genre-bending revolution known simply as \u2018PUNK RAVE.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last few years, STVW has evolved from a studio visionary into a self-made international powerhouse. His reputation is built on a foundation of high-octane live performances where swinging mosh-pit chaos meets hands-in-the-air rave euphoria. STVW also gained recognition in the rock music scene with his &#8216;PUNK RAVE\u2019 sound. Bands like Simple Plan, blink-182, Good Charlotte, or Boys Like Girls not only backed his vision but even gave their stamp of approval to electrifying \u2018PUNK RAVE\u2019 versions of some of their iconic hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is currently putting the finishing touches on a brand new \u2018PUNK RAVE\u2019 EP. This project promises to be the definitive statement of his sound, featuring a mixture of original anthems, high-profile collaborations, and reimagined covers. The tracklist is set to feature heavyweights like Kellin Quinn (Sleeping with Sirens), 408, and Boys Like Girls, promising a fusion of sounds that will resonate with fans old and new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, as he steps into 2026 riding the momentum of major international tour dates from last year, with several more on the horizon, STVW is preparing to push the concept even further. So, in anticipation of the upcoming release, we sat down with STVW to talk about how the PUNK RAVE concept was born, what we can expect from the EP, the pressure of remixing rock icons, and his vision for the future of this hybrid genre. Here\u2019s what he had to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TFword: <em>PUNK RAVE <\/em>is more than a genre tag at this point. Do you remember the exact moment when you realised this was your sound and not just an experiment?<\/strong><br><strong>STVW:<\/strong> To be honest, I haven\u2019t put much thought into it at the beginning. It all basically started when I realized that you don\u2019t really stand out if you sound like every other DJ or producer. You need your own vibe. And one day, it just clicked\u2014why not mix my first love, pop-punk\/emo, with my newer love for EDM? At that point, I hadn\u2019t really heard anything like it, so I thought, why not try? It took a lot of failed attempts, but eventually I had this creative breakthrough and wrote the first \u201cPUNK RAVE\u201d songs where I felt like, this is me\u2014this is authentic and unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, labels didn\u2019t get it at first. A&amp;Rs were saying things like, \u201cNo big DJ will ever support this, it\u2019s too niche.\u201d But I was convinced there had to be people out there who would love this combination of genres as much as I do. I also didn\u2019t really have another option\u2014the direction EDM was going at the time just wasn\u2019t for me, so I had to do my own thing. What helped me push forward the most was that I truly believed in what I was creating, and I hadn\u2019t had that much fun in the studio in a long time. When I made a track combining pop-punk with happy hardcore, I sent the first demo to Timmy Trumpet, who had been supporting my music more and more at the time\u2014and he got back to me saying he wanted to release it together. That was a huge confirmation that I was really onto something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around that same time, Instagram Reels and TikTok started blowing up, so I began posting more videos. After a while, I dropped my remix of Sum 41\u2019s Still Waiting, and just a few days later, it had over two million views and tons of positive reactions. I remember telling my team, \u201cSee? I found the people who vibe with this music.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>TF: You come from punk-rock and emo roots, worlds that are driven by emotion and rebellion. What parts of that upbringing still shape how you write and perform today?<\/strong><br><strong>STVW:<\/strong> Coming from punk-rock and emo, I grew up on music that was built on emotion, community, and not fitting into a box. I think that also defines PUNK RAVE. I don\u2019t see dance music and rock as separate worlds \u2014 for me they\u2019re both about energy, release, and connection. The punk and emo roots show up in the guitars, the live performance, and the way I treat the crowd like a family, not just an audience. It\u2019s about keeping that spirit from back in the days alive in a modern electronic music setting and reminding people that you can rage, forget about all your problems for a couple of hours and just be part of an amazing community<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>As a German artist breaking into multiple global scenes like EDM, rock, pop punk, did you ever feel pressure to \u2018pick a lane,\u2019 or was genre-blending always non-negotiable for you?<\/strong><br><strong>STVW:<\/strong> As I explained earlier, I just had the feeling at some point that I have to be different as an artist to stand out. Of course people told me I have to decide which direction I want to go because it\u2019s very hard to sell to promoters or labels but I always believed in what I started and it was non-negotiable for me. I just trusted my gut feeling and kept going<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>What was the biggest challenge in translating the raw, organic energy of a punk-rock mosh pit into the structured, drop-heavy format of electronic dance music?<br>STVW:<\/strong> I think at the beginning it\u2019s always really challenging when you have a vision in your head and you somehow have to bring it to life. So I did a lot of brainstorming and it took a lot of failed attempts but I found a way to make it work. The most difficult part was how we gonna structure the live show and I decided to treat it more like a concert with me on the guitar and my drummer while still keeping the spirit of a Rave alive. So you basically get a Punk Rock concert with the high-energy of electronic music and that\u2019s something I think hasn\u2019t been there before in that form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>Looking back at your early productions compared to your current releases, how do you feel PUNK RAVE has evolved sonically and emotionally?<br>STVW:<\/strong> In the beginning, PUNK RAVE was a lot more about experimenting and finding my sound. I was pulling from different worlds \u2014 EDM, pop-punk, emo, rock \u2014 and trying to make them coexist. Over time, it\u2019s become much more focused and intentional. Sonically, the records are heavier, more emotional, and more confident in what they are. Emotionally, I\u2019m way more honest now. I\u2019m not just trying to make a track that works in a DJ set \u2014 I\u2019m trying to make music that actually means something to me and to the people listening. PUNK RAVE has grown from an idea into a real identity, and that\u2019s changed how I write, how I produce, and how I perform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>Your music balances high-energy rave moments with deeply melodic and emotional elements. How conscious is that contrast when you\u2019re in the studio?<br>STVW:<\/strong> Very much. When starting a song, I treat the production more like a rock song at first. For me, it\u2019s just easier writing better songs that way. At a later stage, when I have the overall idea for the song already, I start to switch out certain elements to give it that high-energy EDM feeling. Most of the time, it\u2019s obviously that kick and the bass. But I always try to keep as much of the real instruments as possible and just add the electronic parts to support and give it that energy that you can\u2019t get from acoustic drums for example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>Do you approach original songs differently from PUNK RAVE versions of iconic tracks, or do they all live in the same creative headspace?<br>STVW:<\/strong> More or less, they live in the same creative headspace but obviously you can get much more creative when writing original songs. That\u2019s also my main focus at the moment and I really love developing the PUNK RAVE sound even further and trying to push more boundaries<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>When you\u2019re collaborating with vocalists so strongly associated with emotional storytelling, how do you adapt your production to make space for their identities while keeping the <em>PUNK RAVE <\/em>energy intact?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>STVW:<\/strong> I definitely go back and forth with the artist and make sure everybody is happy with how the production sounds and their identity is coming through as expected. Sometimes it\u2019s hard to fit the emotional parts together with the high-energy of PUNK RAVe but that\u2019s part of the process, which is super fun. I\u2019m always thinking about how a record will feel on a big system, but also how it will hit with a live band behind it. With the added rock elements \u2014 guitars, live drums, and that full-band energy \u2014 the songs become more aggressive, more emotional, and more physical. PUNK RAVE LIVE isn\u2019t just about playing tracks; it\u2019s about turning every song into a moment. The goal is for people to feel like they\u2019re at a rave and a rock show at the same time, where you can both lose your mind and scream along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>The &#8216;Dear Maria, Count Me<em> <\/em>In&#8217;<em> <\/em>PUNK RAVE version has taken on a life of its own on TikTok and Instagram. Did you anticipate that kind of longevity and cultural impact?<br>STVW:<\/strong> Honestly, I never planned for it to have that kind of life. The Dear Maria PUNK RAVE version started as a passion project \u2014 something I made because I genuinely love that song and what it represents for our generation. Seeing it take on a life of its own on TikTok and Instagram has been surreal. What really means the most to me is that people made it part of their everyday lives and videos on socials. That\u2019s when you realize it\u2019s bigger than just a remix. What do you look for in a collaborator beyond sound?<\/strong><br><strong>STVW:<\/strong> I always look for artists or bands that I like a lot personally and think could be a great fit to work together. Most of the people I work with genuinely connect to the pop-punk\/emo and electronic crossover, or they come from a place of real curiosity and respect for it. I\u2019m also very hands-on creatively. I stay involved in the songwriting, the sound design, and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the overall vision, so even when someone brings a very different background\u2014whether that\u2019s electronic, pop, or rock\u2014it still ends up having the essence of a STVW production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>You\u2019ve built a fiercely loyal global fan base through a very hands-on, DIY approach. How important is direct fan connection in an era dominated by algorithms?<\/strong><br><strong>STVW:<\/strong> Direct fan connection is everything to me. Algorithms can help people discover your music, but they can\u2019t build a real community. That comes from showing up, talking to people, replying to their comments and messages and just giving them the feeling they&#8217;re part of something amazing. The DIY approach is how I started, and it\u2019s still how I operate today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether it\u2019s answering messages, meeting people after shows, or creating spaces where fans can actually connect with each other, that human connection is what turns listeners into a family. In a world driven by algorithms, real relationships are the one thing that can\u2019t be automated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>As you take the PUNK RAVE LIVE concept across Europe, the UK, Canada, and Australia in 2025\/26, how are you reimagining the live experience for different cultures and scenes?<\/strong><br><strong>STVW:<\/strong> One of the most exciting parts of taking PUNK RAVE LIVE worldwide is realizing that every scene has its own energy and culture but we all share the passion for the same kind of music. I\u2019m not trying to deliver a copy-paste show everywhere. The core of PUNK RAVE stays the same but I want each crowd to feel like the show is built for them. So the goal is always to create a space where people feel like they belong, while still maintaining the PUNK RAVE energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>What have your fans taught you about your own music that you didn\u2019t realise at first?<\/strong><br><strong>STVW:<\/strong> My fans taught me that the music is bigger than me. When I started, I was making PUNK RAVE because it felt right for me creatively. But over time, hearing people\u2019s stories and seeing how they connect to the songs showed me that the music means something very personal to them too. They helped me realize that what I\u2019m creating isn\u2019t just entertainment \u2014 for some people, it\u2019s a safe space, a release, or something that helps them feel part of something. That changed how I see my own music and gave me a much deeper sense of responsibility and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>TF: <\/strong>When people look back on STVW years from now, what do you hope PUNK RAVE represents, not just musically, but culturally?<\/strong><br><strong>STVW:<\/strong> My goal is to build a strong community and brand that is more than just a genre or music. It\u2019s about bringing people from the Rock and EDM world together and creating live experiences where everyone can be themselves and forget about the daily struggles for an hour or two at my shows.
