Sutej Singh Shares New Single, ‘Kaadambari’

Solan-based guitar virtuoso and composer Sutej Singh has released ‘Kaadambari,’ featuring the prowess of versatile singer Nandini Srikar.

On this release, Sutej Singh seeks to masterfully link progressive rock themes with Indian classical sections, topped with powerful bellowing vocal performances, and also pay tribute to a goddess that represents wisdom, knowledge, learning, creativity, and the arts.

“This song was born out of my desire to explore uncharted territory by blending my instrumental roots with Indian classical vocals,” expressed Sutej Singh in a press statement.

‘Kaadambari’ unlocks with bursts of Sutej’s brooding electric guitar paired with Nandini Srikar‘s classical singing style. Tabla strokes ensue, courtesy of Arpit Manaktala, tidily complimented by sturdy drum action layered over a creamy orchestral score. Potent guitar action underlines the song’s rich progressive rock themes, while its production gallantly delivers on its classical marks.

About its rock-heavy meets soothing classical approach, Sutej Singh elaborated, “As someone who has always gravitated towards instrumental compositions, I felt it was time to push my boundaries and create something that bridges two distinct worlds—Progressive Rock and Indian Classical music.”

“The name Kaadambari was inspired by the fusion of these diverse elements, with a nod to its profound meanings. Among its many interpretations, I resonated most with its connection as an alternate name for Goddess Saraswati, the deity of wisdom, music, and art. This felt like a fitting homage to the creative and spiritual essence of the song.”

‘Kaadambari’ can also be associated with a female cuckoo bird, displayed in the artwork prepared by visual artist Aadya Naik. Coincidentally, this cuckoo also slots into Aadya’s ongoing ‘Birds in my Playlist’ series of graphics, where the artist has been illustrating different bird species found in lyrics and themes of songs. The figurine is also seen holding a guitar and evokes the imagery of Saraswati, who is depicted plucking a veena, a long-necked classical stringed instrument.
