A L R Sounds Out A New Experience for ‘Under The Sheets’

Jakarta-based Indian singer-songwriter Abhilash LR, who goes by A L R, unshelves a new music video and refurbished rendition of his debut single, ‘Under The Sheets.’
Released with a brand new music video, singer-songwriter A L R has teamed up with a starry crew from Indonesia to produce a sonically enchanting reprised version of ‘Under The Sheets.’ At the time of writing, the 2019 song has amassed over 42,000 plays on streaming giant Spotify. Guided by a robust video production team led by director Adrian Hendrawijaya, A L R is flanked by musicians Bagus Bhaskara, and Hugo Agoesto Susanto, with backing vocals from Syauqi Destanika on this 2023 rendition.
Away from the 2019 version, ‘Under The Sheets’ opens to a medley of exquisitely laid-out piano elements patiently riddled with assertive string presentation. Abhilash’s delicate and passionate vocals carry the tune, which leads into an ear-pleasing harmonizing vocal segment. The music video places A L R in a white-walled room alongside Yuki Aprilia and features a small library of books and a poster of The Beatles when they performed an improvised show from a rooftop in London.
Aprilia is also seen reading ‘The Adventures of Munks & Zo – Volume 1,’ penned by Abhilash and Apoorvaa, at the start of the music video. As the song nears its end, A L R is seen being handed ‘Munks & Zo Forever,’ volume two of this book series. The book is marked as ‘based on a true story’ and is plugged into the music video as an Easter egg for those closely acquainted with the artist.
“This reprise version of ‘Under The Sheets’ is deeply personal to me,” shares A L R. “I wanted to create a more intimate rendition of the song, focusing solely on the essence of the songwriting. Working with Bagus Bhaskara on the arrangement has been an incredible experience, and I believe it perfectly captures the emotions I wanted to convey.”
