Arrows Serves New Acoustic Offering, ‘Southern Belle’

After releasing his debut EP in September, Mumbai-based musician David Britto’s collaborative music project Arrows squeezes out yet another song release in 2023.
Written in July this year, Britto cites ‘Southern Belle’ as a track that eased his writer’s block after finding himself shrouded in new experiences. The acoustic ballad winches in former bandmate rinaldo and keyboardist/producer Brent Tauro. The four-minute outing hails from a quote, “You deserve to be loved, even when you’re learning to love yourself,” which forms a pulpy hook to the tune.
‘Southern Belle’ unfurls with poignant guitar strumming as Goa-based vocalist rinaldo’s crooning vocals delicately capture each lyric. Keyboardist-producer Brent Tauro, who also featured on Arrows’ EP ‘Friends Tonight, Strangers Again,’ flexes his musical prowess by threading together a soothing minute-long melancholic piano melody while also providing backing vocals. Britto says, “‘Southern Belle’ is an ode to finding solace in people and is also meant to tell listeners that they shouldn’t be too hard on themselves during tough times.”
Discussing this release, David Britto stated, “I present to you ‘Southern Belle,’ the song that broke my writer’s block and one that is made with immense love, care, and gratefulness. I hope you enjoy this late end-of-year postcard. Working with Rinaldo once again after a number of years was so nice and he did justice to the song. As for Brent, I’ve always wanted him to produce one of my songs, and I’m glad that this one worked out, he shines throughout with his piano parts across the track.”
Arrows, accompanied by a full band setup, debuted ‘Southern Belle’ to live audiences at Mumbai’s AntiSOCIAL in September 2023 for 4/4 Experience’s New World Order showcase.
