After spending time to compose “a sound and style that is authentic,” Mumbai-based multi-instrumentalist Sid M leaps back to what he does best with ‘Falling,’ a song molded by influences of alternative, rock, electronic, and dance music.
A peep into Siddhant Mishra aka Sid M’s music unveils a medley of ingenuity, showcasing R&B style production on ‘What You’ve Done,’ a dance-pop beat in ‘Chemicals’ and an alternative/hard-rock ballad in ‘Open Eyes.’ His diverse leger continues to expand, swerving sonics while remaining faithful to his musical roots in his latest piece, ‘Falling.’
Folded together with lyrics that speak to the hardships of confronting one’s trials, the music pulses with poignant keyboard segments, seamed with blissful production. The composition rapidly juices with a thumping bass display framing a pulsating electro-pop/etherpop soundscape. Sid M delivers an ethereal vocal performance, comprehensively capturing the full weight of each lyric, which echos sentiments of pain, sorrow, heartache, despair, regret, and guilt.
Discussing the track, Sid M shared, “Sonically, ‘Falling’ encapsulates everything I love and admire. Having grown up as part of rock bands and being a founding member of the electro-pop act Cryosis, my musical identity has been shaped by alternative, rock, electronic, and dance Music. ‘Falling’ draws inspiration from legendary artists across these genres, blending emotional lyrics about the struggles of facing one’s own demons. I hope this resonates deeply with listeners.”
‘Falling’ was released in tandem with a music video, which follows a teenage female protagonist grappling with many challenges. “The music video portrays three individuals who are isolated, without a place to call home and relying solely on each other. Despite their close bond, they struggle financially, which is evident in their living conditions,” said Sid about the video.
After viewing fleeting moments of joy roused by conflicts and disputes among this trio, the conclusion of the film is left unresolved. The songwriter/producer addressed this ambiguity, saying, “The story concludes on an open-ended note, emphasizing the lack of harmony and the impact of opposing thoughts within the trio’s friendship. Each character, flawed and carrying emotional baggage, represents the challenging yet essential journey of self-discovery and finding the right companion.”
