Antara Ansuna – ‘Sab Laazmi Hai’

Vadodara-born and Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Antara Ansuna’s enchanting single ‘Sab Laazmi Hai’ will delightfully soothe one’s ears with its warm melody, Hindustani classical flows, and hair-raising vocal harmonies. Designed over a canvas of orchestral-esque string work, the single opens with a fantastical relay of keys paired with glossy vocal textures from Antara.

The composition’s themes of the emotional struggle one faces when loved ones forsake them are heightened by the soothing yet rousing sarangi notes that follow. About ‘Sab Laazmi Hai,’ which means, “everything is necessary and justified,” Antara shared via press release, “Let ‘Sab Laazmi hai’ be your musical companion on this journey of self-discovery, resistance, and the gut-wrenching pain of feeling abandoned.”

Nilotpal Sinha & Maanuni – ‘Tu Jo Mila Hai’

Composer, producer, lyricist, and singer Nilotpal Sinha has ushered in his latest project titled ‘Tu Jo Mila Hai,’ collaborating with genre-fluid singer-songwriter, playback singer, and vocal coach Maanuni Desai.

Opening with Maanuni’s honeyed vocals layered over wistful piano arrangements, the music is characterized by an upbeat, bright tone. Brushed percussive activity from drummer Sanket Pahurkar, along with flowing brass segments, complements the easygoing, finger-snapping melody. Nilotpal Sinha’s musical expertise and production skills deliciously create a sleek, jazzy pop experience.

According to Nilotpal and Maanuni, ‘Tu Jo Mila Hai “captures the overwhelming joy that fills your heart when you realize you have this person in your life and the awe of wondering how you were lucky enough to find them. Rahul Shah, Aabhinav – ‘Duur Jaane Par’

Capturing “the lingering emotions of past connections, lost homes, and pivotal life moments,” is musician Rahul Shah’s newest single, ‘Duur Jaane Par.’ Produced by Aabhinav Meher, this Hindi-worded indie ballad coils around themes of those special memories that linger even after we move on from people, places, or phases in life.

The tune is marked with a lush piano melody, pleasant crooning from Rahul, and picky guitar segments. Directed by cinematographer Tanay Vanmali, its music video is a nearly one-shot take in its entirety of the artist looking at old photographs for inspiration to write this song.

Jatin Sharma – ‘Vastavik’

Trust Lucknow/Pune-based artist Jatin Sharma to unleash a hard-hitting desi rock single on his new release titled ‘Vastavik,’ which translates to “real,” “genuine,” or “actual.” In this offering, Jatin creates a throwback to the grunge-rock sound of the late 1990s, opening with funky bass yanks, searing hot rhythm guitar passages, and robust drum patterns.

Squeezed between roaring guitar riffs is Jatin’s powerful vocal range, mockingly glossing over the societal tendency to conceal one’s true self and put on a facade. The artist said in a press note, “‘Vastvik’ delves into the unsettling ironies of a world obsessed with curated personas. Prithviraj Jadhav & The Dangermen – ‘By Your Side’

Trying to define “what should Rock music sound like in the mid-2020s,” musician Prithviraj Jadhav and his gang of rebels, called The Dangermen, haul out a brawny rock song in their debut project, ‘By Your Side.’ Picking up with a somber intro, the single is fastened with sizzling electric guitar riffs, dastardly drum action, and bluesy bass rhythms. According to the band, ‘By Your Side’ serves as “an electrifying promise of loyalty, companionship, and devotion.” Its passionately performed chorus echoes this concept.

Tracing the works of Indian powerhouse acts Blackstratblues, Soulmate, and Skrat as well as international heavyweights Slash, Joe Bonamassa, and the late Freddy King, Prithviraj Jadhav & The Dangermen – comprised of Vinay Rao (bass), Nicholas Umrethi (drums) and Karan Barnabas (lead guitar) – seek to develop and stamp their contemporary rock sound in the ever-evolving music landscape.

Nen – ‘Requiem’

New York-based singer-songwriter Nen continues to enchant listeners with her piano-stamped compositions and lush vocal textures, launching a new single titled ‘Requiem.’

Opening with a poignant setting, the song is marked with gloomy piano chords and somber percussive patterns, which lay the foundation for an intensely passionate slowcore/indie outing. Nen’s whispery vocals carry each lyric with depth and warmth, graciously shifting from lower notes to harmonious bellowing.

Outlined with a deep sense of melancholy, its grim outro and moving lyrics latch onto you after a single listening session.

Azadi Records – ‘BLOODBATH’

Recently marking eight years of operations, Azadi Records rounds up their roster members to fire out a raw, gritty, and unapologetic posse cut, ‘BLOODBATH.’

Commencing with an audio clip from a viral comedy sketch, rapper Dizlaw steps up first, tearing into tyrannical approaches with ruthless wordplay in Hindi. He is followed by rapper Tienas, who lays out a lethal display over a hip-hop-meets-rock score.

Kim The Beloved taps in next, blasting out some tongue-in-cheek wordplay, followed by Ranj, who slaps hard at misogyny with her biting criticism of gender norms and the unfair practices in the music industry. With his free-flowing rap bars, Jelo closes out the single, while Clifr lends a hand in the production. The outro is shaped with a steamy electric guitar solo.

Its music video, directed and edited by Keshav Bhugr, is masterfully produced. Set in an open area and delivered in a black-and-white setup, the camera pans to each performing artist in a well-thought-out one-shot take.
