James Hype Opens Up About New Release, ‘Seratonin’

Influential UK DJ/producer James Hype has opened up about his latest dance-pop number, ‘Seratonin,’ via social media and newsletter to his fans.

May 15, 2026, saw the release of yet another slick and bouncy floor-filler from James Hype, called ‘Seratonin.’ To one’s ear, it offers a euphoric feel with its brazen energy, jarring basslines, dance-inducing rhythm, and catchy lyrics.

Ahead of its release, the tech house music mainstay said that the track gave him a “haunting feeling I always want from music” on social media. In his latest newsletter, Hype further addressed his fans, who, he said, wanted to know more about the track and its significance.

He mentioned that in 2020, he met someone he never wanted to lose. She used to travel to London to visit him, and whenever she had to leave, he would try to convince her to stay a day longer.

He noted that this persuasion stemmed from that feeling you get when “you meet someone and want to know everything about them and never be apart.” This is the emotion and sentiment that James wanted to relay via ‘Seratonin.’

“Last November, she went away for 5 weeks. The longest we’d ever been apart. I was in my studio every day writing songs, and that distance took me straight back to the beginning. The feeling of falling for someone before you fully understand it. That’s what Seratonin is about,” he expressed.

Days later, via his social media, Hype uploaded a more reflective post revealing a vulnerable and self-aware nature of himself and his ongoing success. He reminisces about how his passion and obsession for music slowly turned into a life he could never have imagined, while expressing appreciation towards the journey, growth, and people who supported him every step of the way.

James Hype conveyed, “If there’s one thing I’d want people to take from this post, it’s probably this: You really do not know where the things you love can take you if you stick with them long enough. And that’s the key part that I’ve learnt. You can get there if you never stop.”
