Solomun Urges Party-Goers To Dance More and Film Less at Pacha Ibiza

Melodic house virtuoso Solomun has encouraged attendees to “dance first, film later” during his ongoing Solomun+1 residency at Pacha Ibiza.

Melodic house virtuoso Solomun has encouraged attendees to “dance first, film later” during his ongoing Solomun+1 residency at Pacha Ibiza.

In the build-up to his thirteenth year at the nightlife hub, Solomun issued a statement online asking fans to be present and enjoy the vibe rather than experience it by recording each moment.

Solomun clarified that it was “not a rule. Not a ban. Just a gentle reminder of what this night is really about,” and went on to explain, “The music sounds different when you’re fully inside it. The room feels different when the phones are away. The night stays with you longer when you actually lived it.”

Support and praise poured in from fellow electronic musicians in the comments section, with Benny Benassi, Nico Morano, and Volkoder responding positively to the appeal.

Solomun concluded the statement, writing, “Of course it’s fine to capture a few moments – but keep them short and most importantly: ALWAYS without flash. Cheekily, he added, “So if you see someone forgetting that, feel free to kindly remind them.”

Pacha Ibiza continues to be Solomun’s hallmark venue for his Solomun+1 production, where the deck is swarmed by ravers, and each Sunday brings a new performer. This year’s edition kicked off on May 31 with an All Night Long showcase led by Solomun with support from the Afro house/deep house duo KIMONOS. It was followed by a hair-raising display from Glasgow’s prolific dance music producer Denis Sulta, who slotted in on June 7.

Electronic heavyweights Chloé Caillet, Idris Elba, Skrillex, Peggy Gou, Anyma, Jamie xx, Dixon, DJ Gigola, and Max Styler are all lined up for the remainder of the series. Interestingly, actor and DJ/producer Idris Elba, now Sir Idris Elba, will take to the stage at Pacha Ibiza on the heels of being bestowed with a knighthood for his contributions to youth advocacy and anti-knife crime initiatives.
