Mumbai-based musician Karan Sanchala’s progressive metal project Apocryphal has released a new single ‘Drown Under,’ featuring Dream Anatomy and Kiran Desai.
Guitarist Karan Sanchala reels in the musical prowess of Riddhi Vyas, aka Dream Anatomy, and metalcore vocalist Kiran Desai on his newest release, ‘Drown Under.’ The nearly four-minute metalcore/heavy metal meets gothic metal ballad is crammed with hard-hitting percussion work, nifty guitar rhythms, and ferocious growling action, laced together with hauntingly alluring ethereal vocals.
About Apocryphal’s newest offering, the band submits, “The song speaks of the endless cycles of drowning in pain to break the chain of hurting and healing, of one’s yearning to be whole again, even if it means fighting yourself. And if nothing works, being one with the pain, it is simply the act of surrender that can truly set us free sometimes.”
The metal outfit also discussed the process of constructing ‘Drown Under,’ saying, “We were aiming at making a power-packed single. We were quite happy with what we ended up with – a quick ascension into a pulsating rhythm layered with mellow leads. The ardent growls in the breakdown countered by the ethereal vocals at the end are placed as if to strike a balance between our own fierce self and compassionate self.”
