After shelving the showcase due to severe weather conditions in Aotea and Auckland last year, one of the world’s most secluded island music festivals – The Wingman Festival, is finally taking flight! Wingman 2024 will host thirteen hours of non-stop live music and an array of workshops for you to choose from, including music, arts, crafts, and wellness. The promoters come heavily armed with a line-up that puffs out headliners: electronic music producer/master of intergalactic funk K+LAB and rock, reggae, and alternative crew Summer Thieves.
Reggae, drum & bass, and dubstep crew Knights of the Dub Table, roots and reggae band Lost Tribe Aotearoa, house and techno specialist Paul ‘DJ Phully’ Sweetman, DJ Bobby Brazuka, and his Latin-influenced soul-funk and hip hop collective Latinaotearoa will hit the stage after missing out on the last edition. MC, producer, and composer TALI shares the deck with DJ Aleja, while the six-piece surf rock/reggae outfit SOJØURN leaps onto the roster, on the back of their newest piece of music ‘Where We Go,’ released in December 2023.
Rattling out the rest of the line-up, you will find DJ and producer Dick Johnson, Sammy Senior, electronic/live band trio Floorplay, Courtnee Leigh, ADZ b2b Neski, William Park, Mully, The Reeds, and more! Speaking about the workshops, Wingman will assemble sessions by trap and melodic hip-hop artist King Cass, kinesiologist DJ Kimba Jade, and Aotea Yoga Collective, to name a few.
