Moin Presents an Acoustic Rendition of ‘Kohra’

Seasoned drummer-turned-music composer and producer Moin Farooqui, who goes by his first name Moin, has released a toned-down arrangement of his single ‘Kohra.’
“‘Kohra’ for me is a way to decipher life. ‘Kohra’ or the fog stands for all the difficult circumstances we tend to face in life, and how one needs to be optimistic about finding the positives even in the most difficult of circumstances,” says Moin.
A few months after releasing the electro-pop track ‘Khoya Sa‘ with singer Madhur Sharma, Moin returned to rework his prior project ‘Kohra,’ a song about finding optimism even in the most trying conditions. The track was initially released in 2021, featuring musician Aditya Mohanan, aka Elsewhere, and singer Roshan Bhat.
Fast forward to 2024, and Moin peels away the affable production, crafting a somber acoustic ballad that is stitched together with diligent string segments, melancholic key details, and a passionate vocal performance by singer Rachit Shrivastava. Written, composed, and produced by Moin, immaculate vocal harmonies steered by electro-guitar elements mold the outro on ‘Kohra.’
Discussing ‘Kohra’s’ overall composition, Moin tells us, “As far as the instrumentation is concerned, it was a team effort and we decided to keep things minimal because we wanted it to be as simple and straightforward as possible.”
The artist also let us in on his decision to revisit this piece in particular. He discloses, “‘Kohra’ is one of my most favorite works, and releasing an acoustic version just felt right. I got a chance to collaborate with some of my very talented friends, Rachit Shrivastava, Jay Rathod, Swapnil Tare, and Abhishek Saxena.”
