Producer/rapper Tanmay Saxena, under the moniker Gunda, continues to sew together impressive rap ballads induced with Qawwali, Shayari, and house themes on his latest single ‘Swagat (Lo, Woh Aagaya)’ via Azadi Records.
After churning out over 100,000 streams on his debut album, ‘Allah Rakha,’ songwriter Gunda fetches into the fold ‘Swagat Lo, Woh Aagaya),’ featuring hip-hop artist Rebel 7. Pulsed by Hindi and Urdu lyrics, the two blend in their Bollywood influences to develop a symphonic hip-hop track, twisting in-house themes and lightening fast rap bars.
Gunda and Rebel 7 – ‘Swagat (Lo, Woh Aagaya)’
Commencing with flashes of a shehnai sample (pipe instrument), a pulsating keyboard note underscores the composition, deliciously layered with a pacifying chorus and frantic rap verses. Rebel 7’s freestyle rapping style and Gunda’s expressive Urdu vocals work well together to create a strong Indian underground/hip-hop track. Lyrically, Rebel 7 touches on topics of depression and self-doubt, giving the music a strong, emotional undertone.
‘Swagat (Lo, Woh Aagaya)’ is released with a monochrome music video filmed by art director Kartik Sharma, displaying various shots of Delhi’s Dilli-6 area.
