Ahead of the high-voltage performance for Toolroom Bali at Atlas, we sat down with Tony Romera to know his thoughts on playing at the biggest beach club in the world with the Toolroom Records crew; and here is what he had to say:
TFword: Hey Tony, thanks for taking the time out to chat with us. The sun’s out, and the summer is about to properly kick in. How long were you anticipating it?
Tony Romera: Super excited for this summer! Been working on a ton of music in the studio, time to present it to the people! (Even if the world tour started since a few months already, haha!)
TF: Not long until you take over Atlas Super Club for Toolroom Bali. What is the feeling like?
Tony Romera: Can’t wait for this one, I haven’t been in Bali since years, and as it’s my fav place in the world, so excited!! I heard Atlas is a crazy place too, so I can’t wait to discover!
TF: A Toolroom show at the world’s biggest beach club. It doesn’t get any better; isn’t it?
Tony Romera: I think it’s absolutely everything we need right now! Haha!
TF: What would you like to tell your fans in Bali who will be heading to Toolroom Bali today?
Tony Romera: My last show here in Bali was probably 2018, so, excited to meet again with the Bali crowd. Hope they’re ready for all the IDs we gonna play!
TF: A star-studded line-up as well which perfectly compliments Atlas Club’s super setting. What flavors do you intend to bring to Toolroom Bali?
Tony Romera: My 2 sets will be really different, the Beach club set will be super housy, summer vibe, with disco infused grooves, and the club one will be a bit more minimal, some more bangers to end the night!
TF: Talk us through your experience of crafting your unique sound, and capturing the heart of dance music the way you have done.
Tony Romera: I’ve been working on electronic music since 15 years. I’ve made a bit of every electronic sub genres since my beginnings but clearly going back to my house/tech house roots since a few years, and I’m sticking to it for a while now, having so much fun doing this!
TF: How do you manage the creative workload of your solo project and Bellecour?
Tony Romera: We had to do a pause with Bellecour because my solo project was taking too much time recently, touring a lot and focusing on this music in the studio. But Keeld (Bellecour 50%) is always around, and we still work on music together.
TF: How is the rest of the year looking like for Tony Romera with his music?
Tony Romera: I have a lot of new music coming soon, new single on Toolroom this month, this one is called LFO and already receiving some great support, and incredible crowd reactions when I play it! Then I have a collab with Yolanda Be Cool coming on their label and then many other release including a bunch on Toolroom! Can’t wait!
