Mungo’s Hi Fi To Stop by Auckland and Queenstown for 2024 New Zealand Tour

Glasgow, Scotland’s reggae and dub goliaths, Mungo’s Hi Fi, darts on tour to nine cities across Australia and New Zealand this April, presented by Wakamana Sound System. The tour down under commences on April 11 in Australia, with the collective performing concerts in Queenstown, Raglan, Auckland, and Christchurch in Aotearoa. Auckland’s live events axis The Mothership opens its doors for Mungo’s Hi Fi on April 17, while Queenstown’s nightlife venue, The London, will host the unit on April 19. Acts listed on the artist card alongside Mungo’s Hi Fi at The Mothership include reggae composer and co-founder of Red Robbins Records – Tom Langford, who goes by Naram, Sunshine Soundsystem, and Scottish/Kiwi producer, radio host, and promoter Wakamana. Naram also features on Mungo’s Hi Fi list of collaborators.
Queenstown sees Spain’s reggae/dub producer Mystical Hi Fi onstage beside musicians Wakamana, Justin Naish aka Jungle Fari from Dunedin, and Christchurch-based artist Oski. This dancehall assemblage is stitched together by Wakamana and South Island’s Fidelity Sound System, who also mark their ten years in the business of audio, lights, and visual solutions. Queentstown’s energetic Dubby MC will steer both gigs.
Selector Dougie No Pain, DJ/producer Craigy Wonder, indy-jazz-funk-house-inspired Tommy Danger and sound wizard Breezak Bass shape the current crop of Mungo’s Hi Fi, a collective whose music is rooted in Jamaican sound system culture. Their slew of collaborators includes the late great Jamaican singer Sugar Minott, Gentleman’s Dub Club, vocalist Sister Nancy, producer Flowdan, General Levy, Chopsticks Dubplate, Congo Natty (Rebel MC) and many more.
