Post the release of a lethal rap score in ‘Mainland‘ earlier this year, Rahul Khadtare aka Kidshot continues his upward trajectory, stitching up his second release of 2024 titled ‘Aur Ek’ (One More). This heavy-duty drill/hip-hop outing squeezes in unhinged rap verses from Dehradun-based rapper Atul Dobhal, thriving under KALAM INK, and Mumbai-based rapper Loka.
On ‘Aur Ek,’ the three unrelenting hip-hop artists blast Hindi rap verses on life, desiring more opportunities from it and pursuing dreams in a world that is ruthless and unforgiving. Spitting bars, Kidshot namedrops Micheal Jackson and his 1983 dance-pop jam ‘Billie Jean,’ while KALAM INK’s rapid rhyme segments, riddled with explicit lyrics, cleverly tuck in a mention of Encore ABJ from the hip-hop duo Seedhe Maut.
Produced by lejJa, the beat charges on with a relentless rhythm complementing the lightning-fast segments and dotted with spooky synth flow. Abhinay Lok Bista aka Loka, shining on from his 2024 album release ‘Loka Yaha Hai,’ comes in echoing what fans of Kidshot or ‘kidfam’ are voicing out – ‘Kon ye socha kalam ink kidshot feature hoga loka / feature hoga loka / future hoga loka.’ Simply put – ‘Who saw this coming?’ or literally, ‘Who thought a collaboration by Kidshot and KALAM INK would feature Loka / would feature Loka / the future is Loka.’
“This song is about our lifestyle we live every day, and it means a lot to us that whatever we write a song, people find it relatable because we know it’s real and happens to everyone who is hustling,” shared Kidshot in a press statement.
“This fire drill track is a pack of top-shelf Indian artists with mad deliveries and dope flows from the bay to the mountains,” expressed young rapper Loka, while KALAM INK added, “The song represents the constant emotional state of an artist’s life and what we go through.”
