Programmed for September 28 is a multifarious musical journey presented by Los Angeles-based William ‘Sabo’ Sabatini, coursing through folds of deep house, tropical bass, Afrobeat, techno, moombahton, dub, and disco. Recreating their epic sell-out Moongaze showcase from 2023, the promoters enlist the services of musician/producer Oso and resident Erick Martinez once again. Tickets to Sabo’s show at Papaya Playa Project in Tulum are available on The Ticket Fairy.
A linchpin of tropical EDM and moombahton, Sabo is known to concoct his sessions with warm bass frequencies, creamy percussion, and fluffy organic textures, conjuring a perfect setting at this getaway. He arrives in Mexico on the back of two recent marquee moments; one is delivering a vicious organic/tech house track diced with Middle Eastern flavors in ‘Spicy Sumac‘ (ft. Shamoun) via his own Sol Selectas label. The other was a five-hour continuous sundowner session in New York City aboard a cruise vessel around the island of Manhattan.
Jose Castillo, who goes by OSO, furnishes the dance floor with healthy doses of lush electronic dance music to create a soul-stirring soundscape. Having last released an EP ‘Hold Me When You’re Ready‘ in 2021, Castillo runs proceedings at his underground music label Alom, along with his co-founder Enrique Couttolenc aka LamatUuc in Tulum.
Guadalajara-born and Tulum-based Erick Martinez rounds out the artist card. A staple of the nightlife scene in Mexico and resident at Papaya Playa Project, Martinez has been crafting a stellar compilation of live appearances. He’s been racking up alongside some of the most prolific DJs, artists, and selectors, including the likes of Facundo Mohrr, veteran Nancy Kid, DJEFF, Kerala Dust, Magdalena, and Jenia Tarsol, to name a few.
