On the heels of her debut EP ‘Blowing Sage,’ Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Shama makes a tender return with her new single, ‘Her & Me.’
Shama sets up ‘Her & Me’ on a sonically mellow route, breaking down the process of letting go into stages – resistance, acknowledgment and self-fulfillment. As the artist confronts and actualizes how far below she’s pulled, rife with the urge to resist yet at a loss for words, she traces her steps back to find solace within.
‘Her & Me’ encapsulates the pain of letting go and the joy of finding oneself with gripping lyrics, accompanied throughout by clean strums of an electric guitar and Shama’s poignant vocals and harmonies. The artist told us about the single in a small exchange: “I wrote this song when I fell in love with certain habits and realised that I had to let go.”
“I wrote a song about it and sent it to Kgeekay who then laid down guitars on it which then got sent for mix and master to MANGAS. Much love to dhee (dheeboom) who did such an amazing job capturing what it felt like to let go of that relationship in the music video,” she added, shouting out to her peers who made ‘Her & Me’ happen.
