Initially explored and fantastically received during AVAION’s ‘For The Vibes live Fall 2024’ tour (Germany/Belgium), snippets of the track gained supreme traction online, accumulating over 24 million views. The mighty reaction also included Keinemusik’s &ME and Calvin Harris personally reaching out to the producer via Instagram DMs, along with loads of positive responses in the comments, notably also from dance music’s elite.
January 10, 2025, finally saw the release of this collaborative Afro soul meets electro house beat. Tangled in AVAION’s staple analog style of production and Sofiya Nzau’s exquisite vocal prowess, ‘Wacuka’ boasts a lively tempo coupled with frenzied percussive activity, bleeping rhythms, and marauding energy.
“Wacuka is about the tension between choosing to follow tradition and expressing individuality. It’s a feeling that resonates with many, but I wanted to capture both the struggle and the hope in the lyrics,” expressed Sofiya Nzau via press release. Her Kikuyu lyrics describe a narrative of “finding freedom whilst honoring one’s roots.” To this AVAION added, “‘Wacuka’ is “the German-Kenyan collab you didn’t know you needed.”
Fans can flock to catch AVAION live soon, as the producer-songwriter has announced his ‘You Are Seen‘ live tour, scheduled to run throughout the month of May 2025, with shows planned across Europe.
