One of the most promising acts in the Indian hip-hop scene right now, Jelo peers into the nuances of the music industry on this release, linking with Vietnamese-American rapper Lil Yella to fire a counterweight to the pressures of expectations.

Peeling away from ‘Faces‘ (2023), which tackled stories about family and community, Aizawl’s rap sensation Jelo merges local street-style rap with ruthless energy from Lil Yella on ‘Lam Rawh Le,’ which is Mizo for ‘Let’s Move.’

Lyrically, the duo fixates on the demands of the industry, sacrifices made to reach where they are, and the psychological impact of the constant grind and hustle while also grittily echoing ‘Lam Rawh Le,’ viz., push forward, break free, and have a good time through it all.

Jelo steamrolls in first, firing passionate rap bars over a rattling trap beat intertwined with menacing keyboard chords, meshing clever wordplay and cultural nods. Lil Yella stomps through with a majestic vibe and steely rap energy.

Hyping this single, Jelo took to social media and posted, “Took a break from the game, and it’s been 2 years since I haven’t had anything for ya’ll, and I’m glad to finally share this joint I got with big bro Lil Yella.” Released via Azadi Records, the music video for ‘Lam Rawh Le,’ conjured via Dandelione Vision, has amassed nearly 25K views at the time of writing.
