A little over a year since marking territory at Cassette Nine, UK drum & bass heavyweight DJ Hybrid is set to return to Auckland, this time with Pointers in his sights! Scheduled for October 25, 2025, jungle and drum & bass producer DJ Hybrid will make his Pointers debut, pulling up with his signature blend of breakbeats, basslines, and roaring energy at one of Auckland’s premier electronic dance music havens. Dubbed the “original junglist and drum & bass don,” DJ Hybrid arrives in New Zealand as part of his ongoing ‘EAT SLEEP JUNGLE’ world tour, which also pinned yet another first for the artist.
Alongside his impending debut at Pointers, the tour also sees the ‘Badboy‘ producer touch down in Japan and Thailand for the first time. His timely visit to venues in Shibuya, Osaka, and Nagoya in Japan also lines up perfectly with the release of DJ Hybrid’s latest EP ‘Nice N Easy,’ dropped via Japanese imprint SPRAYBOX on October 2, 2025.
Flanking DJ Hybrid for this electric showcase is a stellar crew of supporting acts, primed to deliver masterful mixing, high voltage vibes, and sets that keep the pulse racing all night long. Local Auckland high-fliers Native, Matarix, Drave, CK, and ELLEN feature on the card, while Wellington’s Pearly rounds out the line-up. Junglist Native and Matarix are locked in for a B2B showdown.
A familiar name to the Pointers faithful, ELLEN’s been steadily building an impressive resume with billings alongside Profile, A.STREET (with Ali B), and Vectic. We checked in with the rising DnB force ahead of the gig with DJ Hybrid.
ELLEN expressed, “I’m super excited to be on support for DJ Hybrid, the original junglist, and an artist I’ve recently come to admire for his powerful and original sound. I’ve got a fresh new set full of jungle, rollers, and dancefloor blends that I can’t wait to share. Mixing has always been my escape and a way to express myself, so playing this show alongside some incredible talent feels really special. This won’t be your regular night at Pointers, celebrating a love for jungle and rollers that runs deep.”
We also spoke to up-and-coming DnB/jungle producer Drave, who shared what it means to support DJ Hybrid and what the crowd can expect when the Auckland-based artist hits the deck. Drave conveyed, “My set’s going to be a mix of modern and old school jungle, a bit of that fast energy with smooth blends to keep people guessing but always moving. Getting to support Hybrid is honestly huge for me, I’ve looked up to his style and sound for ages, so it means a lot to be sharing a lineup with him. It’s been a long way from mixing for fun on cheap decks in my room as a little year 9 to playing at Pointers, yet it’s just getting started, so I’m definitely giving this one everything. Can’t wait to see everyone on the dancefloor!”
