KAVYA Traverses Through Past and Future for New EP, ‘HYPERREAL’

Four years on from her well-received debut EP ‘Know Me Better,’ Delhi-based actor, singer, composer, and producer KAVYA submits her second EP titled ‘HYPERREAL.’
The EP arrives after KAVYA journeyed on an immersive, theatrical audio-visual production of six shows across India in April 2025 with “worldbuilding” as her core focus. The EP ‘HYPERREAL’ explores imagined futures and forgotten pasts and is presented as an archaeological excursion into time that mixes a myriad of retro-futuristic styles and sonics jolted by an imaginative flair.
Four tracks slot onto the new EP, from which two songs, ‘Stolen Games’ and ‘Submission,’ were released during the build-up.
‘Elf’s Manifestation’ unfurls the record and is seen as “KAVYA’s silent articulation of an inner vision — a poetic self-portrait.” It is wrapped with minimalistic folds, unruly-experimental textures, wicked bass segments, ghostly textures, and string sequences. Track three, ‘Felt,’ opens to pulsating ukulele and mandolin strums, boasting echoing cello sequences crisscrossing with booming violins and chant-like vocalizations onto a throbbing electronic display.
“My debut EP was born during the pandemic, when relevance felt tethered to visibility. Shaped by a time of isolation and internal pressure, its sound now feels soft, almost fragile, and sort of a reflection of where I was, not who I am now,” KAVYA disclosed via press note.
On this new soundscape, the artist mentioned, “‘HYPERREAL’ is a turning point. It’s a reclamation of creative authorship and a bold embodiment of the producer I’ve always aspired to be, but only recently found the confidence to fully inhabit.”
For this EP, Kavya Trehan and her team explored new sounds and styles while creating a speculative civilization and discovering artifacts from a distant future. The cover art is one of many findings and combines a portrait with a relic, showing KAVYA “not in a single moment but suspended across time.”
It features a detailed portrait made from copper alloy, from around the year 11,560 AT (After Time Break), alongside a photograph of the artist.
