Packer And Movers – ‘Boys and Girls’

Bangalore-based trio Packers & Movers lifts the lid off their debut album by discharging the first single titled ‘Boys and Girls.’ The song is a DIY project trashed out in Dhanush’s home studio, and it presents a contemplative probe: “What if we’re all just flawed people trying, and often failing, to love each other right? It’s not an excuse, but a realization that sometimes we mess up, not because we’re cruel, but because we’re still learning.”

The trio dresses ‘Boys and Girls’ with a rich post-rock soundscape, characterized by intricate tapping percussions that create a rhythmic foundation. The guitars weave in and out with a delicate precision, while shimmering jingles of a tambourine add a melodic depth that captivates the listener.

Samira Koppikar – ‘KISSE’

Contemporary vocalist and music composer Samira Koppikar, famed for her many standout musical contributions to Bollywood (‘Maati Ka Palang’ – NH10, ‘Lahu Ka Rang Kara’ – Laal Kaptaan, ‘Bairaagi’ – Bareilly Ki Barfi ), unlocked her latest project, ‘Kisse,’ which points to tales or stories.

The single opens with playful piano notes that create a canvas for the composer to delicately layer her warm vocals, lush synth patterns, powerful flute segments, and Desi electronic textures. Well-arranged angelic vocal harmonies sit on the pulsating bass line to shape the outro of the music.

Samira explains ‘Kisse’ as a “soulful, dreamy journey into the world of two people lost in each other’s aura. Their stories and memories create a surreal paradise where the rest of the world disappears.” Since its release, the song has amassed over 30K views on YouTube and over six thousand plays on Spotify.

DROP2O – ‘Jaisi Tu Thi’

Hyderabad-based singer, composer, producer, and lyricist Joshua Roy aka DROP2O, forms a moment of clarity on his new release ‘Jaisi Tu Thi’ after the emotional high of his previous outing, ‘Ek Baar Phir Se’ and the raw fury of ‘Rahe Hum Jaage.’ On this offering, DROP2O oscillates between razor-sharp rap bars and flowing vocal segments that are ironed out over a cheery synth-pop-meets-R&B tempo.

DROP2O expressed that the Hindi-worded rap single is “about owning your part in the story.” He added, “It’s not about blame —it’s about growth. Sometimes you walk away, not because you lost, but because you finally understood. It’s me stepping back, taking a hard look at myself, and walking away with clarity, not ego.”

Sei Hek – ‘Life in Monochrome’

Manipur-based progressive/math rock outfit Sei Hek, fronted by guitarist-composer Khuraijam Sanjeet, has a ferocious new single out in ‘Life in Monochrome.’ It opens with their staple soothing electric guitar chords matched with flowing strings and gradually intensifies to a powerful progressive rock ballad.

The composition harbors everything you seek in a prog-rock anthem, as it is flooded with criss-crossing guitar riffs, roaring-yet-melodic guitars, hair-raising tranquil sequences, mesmerizing work on the frets, crashing drums, and rhythmic bass yanks.

Via email exchange, Sanjeet spoke on the core idea of this single, stating he is “fascinated by the concept of imagining colors in B/W or a grayscale world.” He further revealed, “I feel like it doesn’t just give a binary of being just happy or sad. Instead, it opens up more space to explore different sub-genres, in this case, the sub-genre of emotions. And with that, I feel like each individual experience becomes unique and special. In a sense, it makes these perceptions seem limitless.”

Sei Hek is now strapped with Joel Damian Rodrigues on drums and Benet Collin Braganza on bass guitar.

Ishaan Nigam – ‘Kaajal’

Bouncing off his magnetic pop-qawwali collaboration ‘Sawaal’ with sister pair KavyaKriti, versatile singer-songwriter Ishaan Nigam rolled out ‘Kaajal,’ a single that talks about the tender, genuine nature of youthful love. The subtle portrait of passion is likened by Ishaan to the careful application of ‘Kaajal,’ or eyeliner, to the eye on this outing.

The artist unfurls ‘Kaajal’ with acoustic guitar flickers and bright instrumentation of the bass, shakers, and upbeat drums. What ensues is a lively desi pop meets foot-tapping mellow rock and roll melody woven together by whimsical piano notes and poignant orchestral-like string sections. Ishaan described his new song as “a quiet vow, a fleeting moment captured in sound.”

Shaan Chandra, Kiran Vincent – ‘Everbloom’ EP

Producer-composer Shaan Chandra and vocalist Kiran Vincent, of Bengaluru metal band Hope Awake, examine the emotional ramifications of a complex love spiraling through attachment, pain, clarity, and release on their independently released EP ‘Everbloom.’ Spanning around eleven minutes, the four-track EP illuminates brightly with shades of progressive metal, shoegaze, post-rock, and ambient textures.

Introducing the EP is ‘Dusk,’ opening with soothing electric guitar chords that carve a poignant soundscape, slowly building to a rich melodic rock/metalcore theme. Designer of the artwork, Niharika Giri, launches into a spoken word recital on ‘Eventide,’ tied with post-rock guitars, polished synths, and thunderous drum action.

‘Eventide’ strides straight into ‘Afterglow,’ a powerful metalcore and symphonic metal ballad filled with shrieking growls and intense metalcore riffs. ‘Nocturne’ closes the EP and steers clear of the extreme rock motifs heard thus far and presents a hauntingly enchanting piano-pierced presentation, strapped with stretched-out string sequences.

RANJ X CLIFR – ‘I’M JUST A WOMAN FORREAL’

Through the first single of her upcoming mixtape, Azadi Records’ Ranjani Ramadoss aka RANJ plays with satire. Produced by CLIFR, the track takes a page from a commonly found trope of male artists boasting about their sexual desire towards women. RANJ upturns this script and raps about feminine desires. RANJ’s sultry rap bars sit on a fierce drum and snare action, mixed with synth bass tones and an R&B/hip-hop-meets-pop production.

RANJ expressed in a press statement, “I wanted to rap and sing about sex as if I was a man in the 90s. It’s kinda like barely controlled rage, made sexy. This song is also an ‘I love you’ to Pharrell Williams, who’s a big inspiration to us.”

Perfect Strangers – ‘Honey Words’

Almost two years on from dropping ‘City of Heartache,’ Bengaluru-based blues, funk, rock, and jazz outfit Perfect Strangers make way for their next EP by casting out the title track, ‘Honey Words.’ According to the band, the song “delves into the sticky, addictive trap of a toxic love. With a sarcastic edge, this track explores the struggle to break free from a relationship where love becomes a painful habit.”

From the get-go, ‘Honey Words’ throws down a finger-snapping and toe-tapping melody bursting with flavors of funk, jazz, and blues. Singer Ananya Raja flawlessly captures each lyric with her pristine vocals, and the song shines with its buoyant keys and brass segments.
