Seen as a welcome move, UMusic Hotel & Beach Club Tulum is partnering with Zamna to help establish Tulum as a year-round global hub for music, culture and creative production.

A new alliance between UN Tourism, Universal Music’s hospitality division, and two Mexican developers have joined forces alongside key regional partners to establish Tulum as a major new destination for music as well as cultural tourism. Through the launch of the UMusic Hotel and Beach Club Tulum, this strategic partnership seeks to reshape the local travel landscape by embedding live entertainment, creative arts, and sound design directly into the hospitality experience.

Unveiled in Tulum, this initiative marks the first time an entire destination has been formally associated with a named private resort development. At the core of the venture stands UMusic Hotel and Beach Club Tulum, which is built specifically around creative expression. The project’s founding partners argue that, by embedding recording infrastructure and creative facilities directly into the resort’s architecture, the development will help transform Tulum into a location that actively produces and exports its culture.

The hotel is being designed as a year-round platform for concerts and live events, music and film production, music videos, creator collaborations, brand partnerships and original multimedia content. Alongside its 800-capacity beach club, the property will include recording studios, production facilities and creative spaces intended to accommodate artists and creators working across different disciplines and genres.

The ambition extends beyond the hotel itself, with the partners proposing programming across venues throughout Tulum. The idea is to build an ecosystem in which artists can perform, stay, collaborate and create within the destination, rather than arriving and leaving in isolation.

The first major strategic collaboration announced is with Zamna, the electronic music festival series founded in Tulum that has now grown into one of the world’s leading destination music brands. UMusic Hotel and Beach Club Tulum will serve as the official hotel for Zamna by bringing together the property’s hospitality offering with a festival brand that has become one of Tulum’s biggest cultural exports.

Over the past decade, Zamna has hosted major names including Afterlife, Keinemusik, Adriatique and Black Coffee, and they’ve done it by balancing their line-ups with emerging artists seeking to break into the international electronic music circuit. The partnership arrives as Zamna marks its 10th anniversary, giving the collaboration a bigger impetus as the festival enters its second decade.

For UMusic, the relationship provides an immediate connection to Tulum’s established electronic-music audience. Meanwhile, for Zamna, it creates a dedicated hospitality and creative base within the destination where the brand was born. The alliance also represents the first implementation in Mexico of a memorandum of understanding between UN Tourism, UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle and the Center for Music Ecosystems, which aims to position music, culture and creativity as drivers of sustainable tourism and long-term economic development.

That broader ambition is central to the Tulum Renace strategy, which seeks to strengthen its cultural infrastructure and expand the economic value generated by tourism. Thanks to its plan to make it a year-round programming initiative and production infrastructure, the project could help drive lasting cultural and economic growth across the wider destination.

With UMusic Hotel and Beach Club Tulum set to open in December 2026, the project is expected to help transform Tulum from a leading electronic-music destination into a year-round hub for creativity while creating new opportunities for artists and the wider community.
