With ‘Big Big Love’, Mumbai-based punk rockers The Lightyears Explode supply a snippet of what to expect from their upcoming full-length album, ‘Suburban Prose.’
After hitting their fans and live audiences this year with ‘Pills,’ ‘Fighting With Your Family,’ and ‘Fake It! Shake It! Make It!’ The Lightyears Explode dish out ‘Big Big Love’ – a nearly three-minute punk/hard rock single released via No Binary Records. The band, now comprised of guitarist/singer-songwriter Saurabh Roy and bassist Shalom Benjamin, winch in Chinmay Patkar, the man for all things visual in the Indian music scene, on creative duties for this outing.
Mixed by renowned audio engineer Ganesh Singaram and mastered by music producer Daniel Natoli, ‘Big Big Love’ unwraps to electro guitar splinters and rhythmic drum beats. Saurabh delivers a catchy chorusing vocal hook, while Shalom skews in a temperate melodic segment a minute in as punk/alternative rock guitar themes shroud the single.
The duo introduces ‘Big Big Love’ as “a song that deals with a person unhappy in their relationship, but too afraid to break it off in a mature manner befitting an adult, instead they resort to trying to convince their partner to do it for them with a series of manipulations and excuses.”
‘Big Big Love’ also paves the way for The Lightyears Explode’s second album, ‘Suburban Prose,’ following their critically appreciated fan-favorite album, ‘The Revenge of Kalicharan.’ The Lightyears Explode will be seen next hitting the stage at the fourteenth edition of Bacardi NH7 Weekender together with Jeremy D’Souza on the drums and Jishnu “Short Round” Guha on guitars, alongside Chinmay Patkar’s Corner Cafe Chronicles.
