Slated for December 8 to 10, 2023, at the lush Riverwood Downs in Monkerai, the festival is bringing in Crooked Colours, BARKAA, Eric Cloutier, Youngr, Alec Falconer and more! Musical performances at the upcoming Subsonic Music Festival (SMF) are fanned out over four stages, and the venue also draws in a bevy of live performers, vibrant art installations, visual art marvels, a marketplace featuring an eclectic selection of vendors, workshops, and more.
Breaking down each stage, the “Live Acts, Bass & Beats” stage spews out Perth-based alternative dance force Crooked Colours, the new matriarch of Australian rap BARKAA, British dance/pop phenomenon Youngr, Aussie electronic pair Mood Swing & Chevy Bas, and Gold Coast’s electronic/world music band Tijuana Cartel, to name a few. Four-piece Tijuana Cartel hops on the card as part of their ongoing countrywide tour, celebrating the release of their new album ‘Alectura.’
SMF’s “House, Minimal, and Techno” stage puffs out a massive line-up of heavy hitters, including UK’s Alec Falconer, Andrew ‘Butane’ Rasse, Litmus, duo Lunar Disco (Nicolas Blistène and Kate Elsworth), Marlie, Mez, and Quest, among others. Disco, house, and techno artist Jacqui Cunningham will make their first appearance at Subsonic as part of Cunningham’s maiden summer tour, which commences in November 2023.
Acts Cousin, Eric Cloutier, Kobi Toledano, Grouch, Walrus, Tetrameth, Andy Garvey & DJ Scorpion lead the charge on the “Techno, Psychedelic, and Prog & Various Stage” stage, with a plethora more to follow. Artists slotted on the “Chill, Downtempo, Mid-Tempo, World” stage card include producer/pianist Oli Chang’s Animal Feelings, Timmus, and Wompa aka Alec Sander, Rabbit Taxi, and more! The event grounds will offer a variety of lodging alternatives, ranging from campsites to air-conditioned cottages. Bus travel to the venue can be availed by hitting the ‘Add-On’ option after your ticket purchases. Subsonic Music Festival is a leave-no-trace event; attendees are encouraged to “Leave only footsteps, take only memories.”
