Mumbai-based alternative/electro-rock gang Corner Café Chronicles follows February’s release ‘Homebound’ with their maiden instrumental venture, ‘Paradise Drive.’
‘Paradise Drive,’ a nearly five-minute electro-psych-rock ballad, draws inspiration from rainy late-night drives in the city. The piece is designed against a backdrop of roaring waves and thunderous monsoon showers while reflecting on times shared with companions traveling in Mumbai’s deserted streets after sunset.
With their latest musical offering, the four-piece outfit deliciously serves an eclectic electro composition juiced by splashes of post-rock and progressive rock sonics. The single opens with an enchanting mystical score and unhurriedly shifts gears to a snug alternative melody, plugged with steady drum movement, energetic vox patterns, and bass plucks. A soaring guitar riff steers the music to its crescendo.
Corner Café Chronicles released ‘Paradise Drive’ on the same day as they played a tantalizing set at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Pune. The accompanying visuals of the four-wheeler decked with ‘YOYO TUBES’ are created by vocalist-guitarist/synth player Chinmay Patkar. He has been on the credit list for many of our music features, crafting animations for numerous indie scene staples, including The Lightyears Explode, Pratika, and Long Distances.
