Sunflower Tape Machine Teases Debut Album With Smashing New Single

Chennai-based musician Aryaman Singh, bearing the banner of Sunflower Tape Machine, offers a unique stance on turbulent experiences with anxiety on the new release ‘PANIC ATTACK!’

In an endless loop of music releases circling unhinged hip-hop lyrics, all action-thumping drum & bass sonics, somber acoustic melodies, and stellar electronica compositions, Sunflower Tape Machine zips through and produces a virulent alternative/indie rock soundscape.

Thematically, ‘PANIC ATTACK!’ tackles the intricacies of human emotion, lyrically detailing occurrences that drum up anxiety and stress and, in turn, trigger panic or hysteria. Inspired by coming-of-age films from the early noughties, the music viciously clasps onto you with snazzy rhythm guitars, churning in a punk-rock melody.

The initial notes bear subtle nods to Sunflower Tape Machine‘s earlier singles ‘sophomore sweetheart’ and ‘internet friends,’ while the music rollickingly builds toward an alternative-rock/shoegaze feel fortified with a fierce guitar riff. According to Sunflower, “‘PANIC ATTACK!’ is a happy song about a not-so-happy feeling.”

In a press statement, the artist communicated, “I believe the only way I’ve been able to keep my mental health in check is by channeling my discomfort into art. This track is the result of exactly that. It strives to take ownership of a feeling as uncomfortable and overwhelming as having a panic attack and turn it into
something happy and free-spirited.”

‘PANIC ATTACK’ was released on June 21, 2024, and sits on his upcoming maiden album ‘i like music, it is cool.’ This release date is yet another callback to Sunflower Tape Machine’s previous single ‘sophomore sweetheart,’ unshackled on the same date in 2021 and amassing over one million streams on Spotify thus far.
