Glasgow’s renowned soundsystem culture tycoons Mungo’s Hi Fi set sail for their annual tour of Australia and New Zealand, squeezing in nine concerts between April and May 2025. Cushioned by Wakamana Sound System, the striking four-piece reggae, dancehall, and dub outfit returns to the land down under for a series of gigs across Oceania. They will touch down at Queenstown in New Zealand on May 2 with a unique 3-hour set, joined by Wakamana, DJ Pops, Maglow Kru and Mr Tumnis. Tickets to Mungo’s Hi Fi’s show in Queenstown are up for grabs on Ticket Fairy.

The Scottish collective, comprised of producers Tom Tattersall (Tommy Danger), Doug Paine (Dougie No Pain), Craig MacLeod (Craigy Wonder), and Jerome Joly (Breezak Bass), have recently marked 25 years of brandishing their distinctive reggae and dub music globally while staying rooted in Jamaican sound system and dancehall culture.

Commencing with their first show in Wellington on April 30, the foursome journey to the cities of Christchurch, Queenstown, and Auckland on Kiwi soil and thereafter swing by Fremantle, Byron Bay, Melbourne, Sunshine Coast, and Sydney on Aussie turf.

As witnessed in 2024, Mungo’s Hi Fi will once again take over Queenstown’s popular nightlife venue The London, Shotover Street, on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Powered by the mighty Fidelity Sound System, the support card coils back junglist Mr.Tumnis, who was also on deck during Mungo’s Hi Fi’s visit to Aotearoa in 2023. Acts Wakamana, Maglow Kru and DJ Pops complete the artist roster.

Speaking about how they devised their name, Mungo’s Hi Fi narrated to Shore Projects, “The name Mungo’s Hi Fi came from St Mungo, or to give him his real name Kentigern, the founder and patron saint of Glasgow. His name means beloved, and we got into the myths surrounding him as he seems to have been a dude. We felt it suited our purposes as we felt we were very much a product of Glasgow ourselves, and wanted what we did to be rooted here.”
