Speedily approaching is the first edition of the 81 Music Festival in Japan, locked in for Saturday, June 27, 2026. This single-day multi-genre showcase will occupy the TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO in Odaiba, and interestingly, it plucks its name from Japan’s country calling code, ’81.’
Positioned atop the bill is Australian singer, rapper, and songwriter The Kid LAROI, who makes an appearance at the festival as part of his impending multi-city jaunt in Asia. On his A Perfect World tour, the ‘STAY’ (with Justin Bieber) hitmaker and Grammy nominee will also take over venues in Bangkok, Singapore, Taipei, and Hong Kong.
Swedish singer John Martin, best known as the voice behind iconic dance tracks with Swedish House Mafia (‘Don’t You Worry Child’) and Martin Garrix (‘Won’t Let You Go,’ ‘Higher Ground’), features as one of the headlining acts.
Melodic techno connoisseur and Tale Of Us associate MRAK also joins the line-up, marking his Japanese debut. Dutch DJ-producer R3HAB is locked in for an SP Showcase World Premiere, while psytrance and psytech heavyweights Vini Vici and MR.BLACK is primed to deliver another high-voltage B2B session.
Japan’s dynamic bass house, trap, and dubstep DJ/producer ALAN SHIRAHAMA joins as a special guest alongside Korean sensation NIGHT TEMPO, who brings in revamped 80s-inspired grooves to his future funk DJ set. Genre-blurring sonic architect 3LI¥EN and house and techno frontrunner MARVY round out the music card.
Speaking of the announcement, MARVY expressed on social media, “I am pleased to announce that I will be performing at the new Fest 81 MUSIC FESTIVAL starting this year. Thank you very much to everyone involved who spoke with me.”
“I will be opening the day and will be performing early, but I hope to have fun playing. Toyota Arena, which will be held for the first time, will be a very beautiful venue, and the lineup will be a day full of fun, so please come and have fun,” he added.
