As the open-air fiesta embarks, over forty artists are scheduled to perform across five days and three venues – The Crazy Monkey Bar, The Bohemian Lagarto, and The Alley – from January 4-8, 2024. We have handpicked a few acts to keep an eye out for!
Wizard
Prepare for some epic spells of sonic sorcery on deck with San Jose-based electronic music producer Wizard, who makes his way to the Ocaso festival opener. A regular attendee and DJ for nearly a decade now, Wizard’s unique sound is pulled from techno, melodic techno, and modern tech house. Ever present in Costa Rica’s lively music scene, you can catch Wizard perform at the welcome party on Thursday, January 4 at Crazy Monkey Bar.
ALEL
After a smashing hour-and-a-half set at Electric Animals in December last year, DJ and producer ALEL will make his presence felt once again at the Ocaso Festival. This year, the culinarian of house music and indie dance vibes is slotted for Monday’s finale showcase at Crazy Monkey Bar, alongside 8Kays and Brina Knauss. Signed to LA-based Hoomidaas Records and part of the Electric Animals crew, this will be ALEL’s third time playing at the festival.
Malakita
Weaving dance floor magic with indie dance, deep house, and melodic house, sibling production duo Malakita steps into the festival card on Sunday, January 7, at The Alley in Tamarindo. The pair has created quite a stir on the electronic music map, having performed at Tierra De Los Muertos Festival, Envision Festival, Labryinto Festival, and multiple shows across Europe last year.
Inna Hertz
Cleverly stitching together her full name (Karina Hernandez) to mold her onstage alias, Inna Hertz hits the launch party showcase at the Ocaso Festival on January 4. DJing for a little over two years, Hertz imposes a soundscape comprising of house, afro house, and progressive house sounds. A seasoned pilates professional, Hertz described performing at Ocaso as “a dream come true,” further stating on social media, “As a DJ, I am incredibly excited for this amazing opportunity to take you on an unforgettable sound journey, art, and universal connection, always from love and gratitude for the doors the Universe opens for me.”
DOMM
Dominick Young Mitchell, best known as DJ/producer and bassist DOMM, kicks off his Ocaso adventure on Thursday, January 4, at the opening party, headlined by German DJ Konstantin Sibold. Doused in genres of rap, disco, hip-hop, and reggae from an early age, attendees can expect a set radiating with deep/acid house, Chicago house, techno, trance, and Afro House from Domm. Speaking ahead of his performance, DOMM posted on social media, “Super excited and grateful to be a part of this new edition of @ocasofestival in 2024!” He added another post to express, “Mad ready to spend an incredible week with such talented artists and have blast with you all!”
