5 Artists to Watch Out for at Control ALT Delete 2024

January 13 and 14 mark the return of one of India’s most beloved live music experiences, Control ALT Delete (CAD), at Roaring Farms in Marve, Malad, Mumbai. This showcase is slated to assemble over forty artists and the who’s who of the bustling music scene in the country. CAD’s line-up arguably features something for everyone over two days in what is a sure shot at one of the highest-rated music festivals in India in 2024.
As the solely crowd-sponsored multi-genre music festival Control ALT Delete rapidly gallops nearer, we spotlight five acts you absolutely must check out, striding away from all the headliners and staples of the indie scene on the card.
Merak
Goa-based sibling duo Brandon and Belinda Mendes, collectively known as Merak, are known for their marque sound of experimental music encompassing electronica, jazz, rock, dream-pop, indie, and soul-pop. The two released their second EP ‘Manic Mode’ in 2023, from which singles ‘Up High,’ ‘Happy Pill,’ and ‘Left Brain’ have been hitting the right notes with listeners. In terms of live music, Merak has had a significant 2023, performing multiple gigs, including at the Little Sounds showcase and opening for Parekh & Singh in Goa. Following CAD, Merak will perform at the inaugural Echoes of Earth festival in Goa.
The pair will hit the Orchard stage on day one of Control ALT Delete from 4 PM onwards.
Tidals
Guitarist/producer Siddharth Talwar, a name routinely found in the credit list of our featured music releases, ships his most recent electronica project Tidals to CAD. After being in the works for nearly three years, the composer released his five-track EP ‘Lovedale’ in the final months of 2023, oozing funk, soul, and electro-pop vibes. Attendees can look forward to the record being performed in full at the festival and some unreleased material, as the artist conveyed via social media, “Extremely excited to be a part of Control Alt Delete! Gonna be playing all the tracks from LOVEDALE as well as some new fun stuff!”

The Dharavi Dream Project
CAD’s Home Turf stage will present a strong line-up of musicians and collectives, namely Naezy, 100RBH and Poet Shaf, Wild Wild Women, Yung Fly, Shreyas and Vedang, Lil Malai, and Tappori’s Paradise consisting of emcees, beatboxers, graffiti artists, breakers, and instrumentalists. At this set-up, you’ll also find The Dharavi Dream Project (TDDP), a vibrant young unit of talented b-boys, rappers, and hip-hop artists. TDDP was founded in 2014 to uncover, promote, mentor, and bring to the forefront hip-hop talent in Dharavi and around the world. Representing TDDP will be rapper/lyricist Saniya MQ, MC Josh, Tamil rapper Siva G, and rapper Gloria Francis, to name a few.

St.Cyril
St.Cyril, which consists of seasoned musicians (and brothers) Sarthak (vocals/guitar) and Shashwat Karkare (drums), has made quite the ruckus as a stellar rock act on the indie scene since their formation in 2022. After lashing out five singles in 2022 alone, the pair unleashed their three-track debut EP in August 2023. Attendees can look forward to blitzing guitar riffs, hooky choruses, hard-hitting drum action, and full-on pop-rock/hard-rock sessions during their performance.
Heavily armed with singles ‘Bad Bad Wolf,’ ‘Trouble,’ and their EP ‘The Most Amazing Exhaustion of the Century,’ St.Cyril invades CAD’s Backyard stage on Day 2 of the music festival from 6:15 PM onwards.
Konflicts
With a bevy of robust live performances already under their belt, Sikkim-based genre-bending metal heads Konflicts look set to tear down the Survive This podium at CAD on January 14. The four-piece band is known to dish out a throbbing setlist drizzled with raging guitars, pounding drums, and growling vocals, all squeezed in at a breakneck pace. The band’s 2022 album, ‘Antya Ko Shuruwaat,’ lasts only 6 minutes 22 seconds, with the noisecore ballad ‘Vikriti‘ clocking in at a minute and ten seconds in length.
