Open for all ages, this daylong celebration kicks off from 2 PM onwards and headliners announced include legendary hip-hop crew The Hieroglyphics and roots/reggae icon Queen Omega. Hip-hop collective The Hieroglyphics have locked in all original members for this spectacle and will bring to the fore works from their 1998 debut studio album ‘3rd Eye Vision,’ which charted at #26 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums. Trinidad-born Jean Osborne, best known as Queen Omega, arrives to perform in LA for the first time in fifteen years. Charged with her flaming-hot vocal command, she is a sure shot to deliver a powerhouse of a set.
Turning this music card into a mini festival are a variety of heavy hitters and seasoned musicians. Joining the roster are LA’s hip-hop legends Visionaries, hip-hop staple Funkdoobiest, underground crew The Shapeshifters, and Latin American rap artist Gavlyn.
That is not all; folded into this mix is a Roots & Culture outdoor waterfront stage – hosted by the Dub Siren team, which will witness the US debut of Kingston-based reggae/soul singer & songwriter Micah Shemaiah.
Shemaiah will be dub mixed by recording engineer and producer The Scientist (Hopeton Brown), and this setup also harbors performances from the full Dub Siren crew featuring MCs General Zooz, Mello Banton, Rootsman, and Ryo Vibes.
Concrete Jungle Sessions LA residents Dier Times, Jahwy, and Beatrix also feature alongside Daily’s Otek and Shownuff. 6Blocc aka R.A.W. Quaesar, Jizzm, Ice Cream Crew, and Poetik Prophets round out the artist roster. Diggin Daily’s The Community Wall will lead the live graffiti assemblage, whereas the Beat Swap Meet community will overlook the vinyl arena.
Designed to tie together sounds and rhythms that echo the diversity and creativity of the city, Heart of Los Angeles will also present a KULTURE maRKet curated by the team at Raw Kulture to organize a buffet of products, including merchandise from artisans and craftspeople along with flavorful edibles from a series of vendors.
