If you come across a drum & bass head and ask them what London Elektricity’s music means to them, the answer almost certainly will be that his music makes them happy. There’s a certain warmth, a certain glow, in the melodies he creates. And if you were to introduce drum & bass to someone hearing it for the very first time with a London Elektricity track, chances are their reaction would be strikingly similar. It’s the defining characteristic that has made London Elektricity one of the most beloved figures in not just drum & bass but dance music as a whole.
This dominion of London Elektricity’s music has been consistently evident for the past three decades. Throughout his remarkable journey, he has continuously released the freshest drum & bass that resonates with your soul, crafting tracks that turn into uplifting emotional experiences. At the same time, through his role as co-founder of Hospital Records, he has been instrumental in helping put drum & bass firmly on the global music map.
His eight studio albums, starting with ‘Pull The Plug‘ in 1999, perfectly explain the creative hive mind of London Elektricity. This prolific output demonstrates an artist who has constantly innovated and kept things fresh, never allowing himself to be pigeonholed into a single sound or approach. From the jazz-influenced breaks of his early work to the more contemporary electronic explorations of recent years, each album has marked a distinct chapter in his artistic evolution while maintaining that unmistakable London Elektricity soul.
After a near three-decade association with Hospital Records, a partnership that helped define the sound of modern drum & bass, London Elektricity took a step in a new direction by launching his own label, Fast Soul Music, and the ethos of the label has been refreshingly simple: no big marketing campaigns, no over-designed visuals; just straightforward, beautiful music, released in a way that feels authentic to him. Since the label’s launch in September of last year, collaborations with renowned artists like Makoto, DJ Marky, Catching Cairo, Zara Kershaw, and Doktor, among many others, have already graced the Fast Soul Music catalog.
Steadily building a catalog of emotionally rich drum & bass, 2025 marks a special milestone: the release of ‘Lozenge Frenzy,’ London Elektricity’s first solo single on the imprint. It’s a testimony to the art of sampling by layering elegant sounds with precision and soul to create something both fresh and timeless.
With ‘Lozenge Frenzy’ now out in the world and his highly anticipated set at the upcoming SUNANDBASS festival on the horizon, we saw this as the perfect moment to sit down with London Elektricity. We talked about his new track, the first chapter of the Fast Soul Music journey, and what’s next in this exciting new era of his career. Here’s what he had to say.
TFword: First off, you’ve had a packed year so far between new releases and touring. How’s 2025 been for you up to this point?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: I’m enjoying the journey of releasing my music on my new label and playing it out at shows around the world.
TF: It’s been about a year since you launched Fast Soul Music, and this year has already brought some stunning releases. How would you describe the label’s journey so far?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: I’ve had a good response from people so far, and I’m very happy with it musically.
TF: When you set out to create Fast Soul Music, what was the vision driving it? Over the past year, how have you seen that vision take shape?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: No vision, nothing grandiose, just me making music with my friends and finding joy in releasing it.
TF: Let’s talk about your latest release on the label; it’s a beautiful piece of work. How long had this one been in the making?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: It was quite quick to make. This tune is just me on my own, having fun in the studio.
TF: The title ‘Lozenge Frenzy’ definitely catches the ear. Is there a story behind the name?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: It is a stupid name. I have lists of titles that come to me and this is one of those. I have that thing that Frank Zappa used to have, to wilfully use titles that no one else would dream of using.
TF: Tell us, how did you go about blending the various samples into ‘Lozenge Frenzy’?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: There are many samples on the tune, they all come from Loopcloud which is a royalty free sample library. It’s fun to use!
TF: Have you had the chance to play the track out yet? If so, what’s the reaction been like?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: I have played it out many times, and it always seems to go down well.
TF: With SUNANDBASS right around the corner, what can fans look forward to from you this year?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: I’m playing 2 sets at S&B, the details haven’t been announced yet so that’s all I can say for now!

TF: What do the next twelve months look like for London Elektricity and for Fast Soul Music?
LONDON ELEKTRICITY: My album drops at the end of October, so everything is focused on that at the moment! It’s called Lunatics and Legends.
