Adana Twins twins first met back in 2004 as students of graphic design and media at Hamburg’s Design Factory. Blending their musical affections for hip-hop and club music, they forged their musical DNA racking up appearances at concerts and music festivals across the world, even launching their label TAU in 2018.

In their early forays into organizing house gigs and DJing, they plucked the moniker ‘Adana Twins,’ while pondering over their stage name at a Turkish restaurant for an upcoming party they would perform at. After ordering an Adana Kebab, they thought it would be “funny” to call themselves ‘Adana Twins’ after this menu item and believed it would be a “one night only” schtick.

In an interview with 15 Questions, speaking about challenges while playing live vs production in a studio, the duo said, “The main challenge was not to create the perfect transition from track to track, but the ability to ‘read’ the crowd, and get a feeling for the night, and select the perfect tracks. And to be honest; some bad transitions will not destroy the night but a bad record selection most definitely does. On the studio side of things, the experience we get as DJs helps us when we produce, because we know what kind of music works in the club.”
