For the first time ever, Ultra will see a zero-emission, battery-powered stage – The RESISTANCE Cove Stage – at its festival in Miami. Showpower’s battery system SmartGrid will deposit energy beforehand, using no onsite fuel or emissions at this stage.
“Ultra’s deployment is exactly the kind of forward-thinking action the industry needs. By partnering with Showpower to bring battery-powered technology to a major electronic festival, Ultra is proving that climate solutions can enhance live music production. This is a blueprint for the future of festivals,” said Adam Gardner, co-founder of REVERB.
Ultra’s collaboration with Showpower, which brings its SmartGrid™ battery system to the Resistance Cove Stage, is a part of the festival’s Mission Home initiative. It includes sixty-five sustainability initiatives, programs, and partnerships to protect the environment.
“For the past six years, Showpower’s team has worked closely with Ultra and CESPower to develop intelligent and sustainable power solutions as part of Mission: Home,” says Paul Schurink, co-founder of Showpower, as per DJ Mag. “A central focus has been measuring energy demand across the site to identify opportunities to reduce diesel consumption, fuel costs and carbon emissions. This year, Ultra’s RESISTANCE Cove Stage provides the greatest opportunity to do that, by replacing a generator with a battery system charged by grid power.”
This will be a major sustainability initiative for a large-scale electronic music festival’s stage to run entirely on a battery-powered system with zero emissions. Showpower’s SmartGrid was also employed at more than eighty concerts for Coldplay’s iconic Music of the Spheres tour.
The Martinez Brothers, Joris Voorn B2B Korolova, Sara Landry, Cassian, Clara Cuvé, Dennis Cruz B2B Seth Troxler, 999999999, and more will be taking the Resistance Cove stage at Ultra Miami 2026. The festival returns to Miami’s Bayfront Park from March 27 to March 29, 2026, with headliners Alesso B2B Martin Garrix, Carl Cox, Amelie Lens B2B Sara Landry, Afrojack, and Sasha Digweed, among others.
