Indo Warehouse Presents ‘Mast Qalandar / Junoon’ Collaborative EP

Out now via Indo Warehouse is a stunning three-track collaborative effort, ‘Mast Qalandar / Junoon,’ that brews a sonic clash of Sufi devotion, classical elements, desi tones, and underground flavors.

‘Mast Qalandar / Junoon’ comfortably sits on the Indo Warehouse bandwagon, binding together a unique group of artists, including indie-dance specialist SAQIB, vocalist-composer Umer Piracha, and interdisciplinary artist NAAYAAB.

In line with Indo Warehouse’s vision, the EP reshapes an age-old Sufi qawwali, ‘Dama Dam Mast Qalandar,’ into ‘Mast Qalandar‘ woven with powerful vocals from Sufi singer Umer Piracha and lively ripples of a morchang/jaw harp-like sound threaded through SAQIB’s energetic production. An extended ‘Mast Qalandar Dub Mix‘ further expands this arrangement, primed to pulse through dancefloors across the globe.

SAQIB and Umer Piracha’s collaboration began after a chance encounter at Amsterdam Dance Event 2024 and later continued in Brooklyn, where they merged a shared cultural language into music. Via press note, SAQIB recalled, “The first time I heard him sing live, it brought tears to my eyes.” Piracha added, “This is about carrying a living tradition into new spaces without losing its center.”

Also on the record is ‘Junoon,’ which draws from the Hindustani classical Raga Bhairav and throbs with a vicious edge. It is forged from electro fragments, wavy synths, and tapping percussion, with NAAYAAB’s bellowing Punjabi vocals intensely evoking obsession, passion, madness or junoon.

On the track, NAAYAAB explained, “That adrenaline, that push to keep going — that’s junoon. It’s about moving forward and choosing to live fully, no matter what.”

SAQIB further commented, “This EP is an exploration of the frontiers of sound — something bold, new, and unique. I hope when dancefloors hear it, it takes them somewhere.”
