Kiwi event communities RedHearing and the Department of Arts reign in their annual spring dance – In Bloom, a lavish exhibition of color, boogie, and good times. Slated for November 18 at Tauranga’s Waterfront Playground, In Bloom 2023 brings Muroki, Bontempo, Park Rd, Hotel Tropic, Hot Sauce Club, and many more! Tauranga’s Waterfront Playground is set to transform into a hive of activity crammed with an array of presentations of music, art, grub, and beverages. The stacked live music card features Kenyan-New Zealand reggae artist Muroki as the headliner. Muroki Mbote Wa Githinji, best known as Muroki, heads to In Bloom on the back of his newest acoustic single release, ‘Middle Ground.’
Muroki is joined by Auckland-based indie-pop band Park Rd, famed for their singles ‘Surfer Boy Paradise,’ ‘Coastline,’ ‘Control,’ and ‘I Got You.’ RedHearing staples duo HarrisonJupe, Bontempo, trio System, house, and electronic pair Zoe and Gabby, known jointly as Butter Milk, and Dunedin-based alternative/indie rock fivesome Hot Sauce Club also features on the bill for In Bloom. Auckland-based electronic trio Hotel Tropic, known for a sound that combines elements of house music, indie rock, and breakbeat, rounds out the line-up.
We received word about In Bloom from Hotel Tropic’s Joel Rimmer, who shared with us, “We’d like to say that we are really looking forward to playing at In Bloom alongside an incredible and talented lineup. The previous shows have looked amazing. We have been busy putting together a new and improved set with unreleased music and a few surprises in there. We can’t wait!”
In Bloom was announced back in September 2023, with early bird tickets selling rapidly. The concert kicks off from 3 PM onwards, with passes still available! Food and drink options are aplenty, hauled in from Japanese street food-inspired Karaage Boys, Mount Brewing Co. Brewery, and Johney’s Dumpling House.
