Sunburn Continues Mumbai Era with Mahalaxmi Racecourse as New Venue

After a flood of canceled gigs and postponed concerts, Indian ravers finally have a reason to rejoice as dance music festival titans Sunburn have announced dates for their next edition in Mumbai.
Sunburn hopped over to Mumbai last year and, alongside praise for top-tier performances and production, received a mixed reaction to its setup, location, and overall crowd management. Promoters have now announced that the upcoming 2026 edition, penciled for December 18 and 19, will take place at Mumbai’s regularly utilized large-scale venue, Mahalaxmi Racecourse.
Alongside this venue shift, Sunburn has also scaled back from its traditional three-day programming to a two-day format. However, the festivities will wrap up with a closing party scheduled for December 20. This year’s theme has been revealed as ‘Awaken The Core.’
Mahalaxmi Racecourse is no stranger to welcoming upwards of 50,000 attendees and has hosted every edition of Lollapalooza in India thus far, along with concerts headlined by Guns N’ Roses, John Mayer, Martin Garrix, Swedish House Mafia, and most recently, Keinemusik.
ANYMA’s new concept audiovisual experience will also take over Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 21, as part of his ongoing Æden World Tour.

Talking about the announcement, Sunburn CEO Karan Singh shared, “The move to Mumbai has played a significant role in this evolution, allowing us to reach new audiences while strengthening our core community, representing everything that has been building over the years – a moment where the festival’s identity, energy and vision come together in a way that is ready to stand alongside the world’s most iconic music festivals. As we enter our 19th edition, every decision – from moving to a venue like Mahalaxmi Racecourse to reimagining the festival format – has been made with a clear focus on enhancing how fans experience the festival.”
Sunburn moved to Mumbai in 2025 after years of calling Goa its home. Festival grounds were set up at Infinity Bay arena in Sewri across three days, with performances from Sara Landry, David Guetta, Axwell, and Above & Beyond, among others.
