Kolkata-based musician and documentary filmmaker Jaimin skillfully ties his folk-rock songwriting technique with delectable pop grooves from producer-composer National Animal on his latest music drop, ‘Techno Girl.’
As stated via email, Jaimin’s newest outing “speaks about the experience of vastly different lifestyles driving a wedge between two people, as one partner prefers a world of wild parties and techno beats, while the other feels out of place in that scene.”
Thoughtfully mirrored in its pleasing aural textures and varying tones, ‘Techno Girl’ took up a Valentine’s Day release. A seemingly strategic action owing to its contrasting themes and ideas that sonically pair up favorably.
Triggering with velvety electronic piano parts from Sambit Deshmukhya and juicy guitar licks from Subharaj Ghosh, the audio canvas melts a smooth synth-pop flow groovily crisscrossing to carve out mesmerizing upbeat sections. A shiny guitar solo is also swirled into the mix, followed by a section that sees the lyrics “I love rock and roll, You’re a techno girl, I wrote this just to let you know,” carried out by Jaimin’s airy and free-flowing vocal knack.
Singer-songwriter Jaimin was invited to join the Recording Academy/GRAMMYs as a voting member in 2023 and is a recipient of RadioandMusic.com’s Clef Music Award in 2024 under ‘Lyricist of the Year’ for his single ‘No Vices.’ In 2024, he guested on Antonio Vergara’s Grammy-nominated blues album ‘The Fury,’ and also had two of his works (‘No Vices’ and ‘Can’t Get Away’) submitted for Grammy consideration.
