Techno Legend Carl Craig Returns to LooLoo Studio on July 18

Detroit-based electronic music icon and Grammy-nominated composer Carl Craig makes his grand return to LooLoo Studio, almost exactly a day to the year from his last visit. The show comes as part of Carl’s ongoing July Tour that sees him stop by Mexico City on July 18, with Waxey G on support duties. Sitting on Rolling Stone’s “25 DJs That Rule the Earth,” Carl Craig certainly knows a thing or two about invigorating crowds with his loops of house and techno music soaked in ambient techno, breakbeat, house, classical, and jazz traces.

Carl Craig’s musical sensibilities were outstretched while working with the Xerox machines, as the paper rapidly moved through its chambers, creating rhythmic flows. Not too long after, the world first got a taste of Carl Craig with his first track, ‘Elements,’ released under his then alias Psyche in 1989 on a compilation album.

At the age of 56, three decades into his music career, he is one of the most prominent figures in techno, from his pivotal role in launching the Detroit Electronic Music Festival to his Detroit Love project, a traveling DJ collective including some of the best hip shakers in the scene.

Carl Craig makes his way back to LooLoo Studio on July 18, following stops at the Elétrico Festival in Portugal and Defected Ibiza. House and deep house connoisseur DJ/producer Robert Arthur Williams, aka Waxey G, sits on support duties. Based in Ciudad de México, Waxey G polishes the dancefloor with tropical house, progressive house, and big room house feels.
