The cinematic bass duo has flipped the eerie narrative of the original into a peak-time dancefloor number.
Comprised of Max Rowat and Katie Boyle, Koven is a cinematic bass music duo fueled by diversity, friendship, and progressive ideas. Known for their uniquely powerful sound, Koven combines meticulous sound design and production with storytelling and unforgettable live performances.
Primarily channeled into drum & bass and dubstep, with forays into an array of other genres, their sound has amassed a large global following, with their debut LP ‘Butterfly Effect’ establishing the duo as a potent force.
Over the years, Koven has released a steady flow of EPs and singles, keeping up the momentum to gradually establish their sonic identity. As their music spread throughout the world, they began to pick up more and more gigs. Through consistent performances, they initiated a process of conscious refinement, initially performing back-to-back DJ sets with Katie singing.
At their core is a deep love for the music and the desire to cultivate transcendent moments; whether that’s on the dance floor or at home, their music is designed to evoke powerful emotions. Now, on the cusp of their new evolutionary phase, Koven is brimming with ideas and creative energy, which has translated into their latest single – a VIP of their 2018 hit single ‘Never Have I Felt This.’
The ‘Never Have I Felt Like This’ VIP gained popularity after being debuted by the duo at several festivals over the summer, including Reading & Leeds, Liquicity, Tomorrowland, and Creamfields. Without missing the same euphoric songwriting that characterized the original record, the mainstage anthem has been refreshed for 2023.
With the initial version hitting platforms five years prior to this release, it served as a marker for Koven’s meteoric rise. Since then, they’ve revealed a host of brand-new music, including their debut album ‘Butterfly Effect’ on Monstercat.
