‘Break It Down’ will unleash one of the most anticipated drum & bass releases of the year.
Wilkinson and heavyweight collaborations are a match made in heaven. Right from his debut album, which included collaborative hits like ‘Heartbeat,’ ‘Half Light,’ and, of course, the iconic ‘Afterglow’ with Becky Hill – a tune that still gets the loudest responses even after a decade since its release are proof that Wilkinson’s collaborations consistently produce groundbreaking results.
Now, four albums deep, Wilkinson has given the scene some of its most memorable moments throughout his career, which has made him one of the most influential figures of modern-day drum & bass.
Emily Makis, on the other hand, has become one of the most recognizable voices of the genre. Thoughtful lyricism, a profound voice, and her ability to create tense atmospheres have solidified her reputation as a prominent drum & bass hitmaker.
Starting with the uplifting ‘Never Too Old’ with Monrroe, followed by tunes like ‘Buttons,’ ‘Elemental,’ and ‘High Note,’ before blowing the charts with her 2023 single ‘Phoneline’ with Pola & Bryson, Emily Makis has given drum & bass some of its favorite singalongs of recent times.
For their first-ever collaboration, Wilkinson and Emily Makis have come together to deliver what is set to be one of the biggest drum & bass anthems of 2024 and another memorable singalong courtesy of the pair. Having been on heavy rotation in nearly all of Wilkinson’s recent sets, ‘Break It Down’ was already a heavily discussed dub of the season, the tune has finally seen the light of day.
Emily Makis wastes no time in letting her commanding style of vocals come through with the intro; and just when you think the tune is heading in an intergalactic direction, you’re surprised by Wilkinson’s rugged and feisty drop that fully changes the course of the song into a thumping drum & bass stomper. Be it a club or a festival, ‘Break It Down’ will definitely rattle the floor it’s dropped on.
‘Break It Down’ by Wilkinson featuring Emily Makis is out on all streaming platforms via Sleepless Music.
