Delhi-based singer-songwriter Shrutika Nagpal, best known as LadyFingers, bundles together her music catalog and shapes her debut album ‘We Used To Love,’ adorned with her latest single ‘LessToLove.’
Singer-songwriter and rapper LadyFingers has devoted her skillset to ‘Make Music Fun Again,’ keeping her sound experimental, lyrics honest, and themes relatable. ‘LessToLove,’ her fifth single, marks Shrutika vacating the corporate culture and fully embracing her commitment to music as LadyFingers.
The painstakingly concocted ‘We Used To Love’ album, straps listeners in on a vile journey of a typical situationship, tracklisting earlier releases ‘Anxietea,’ ‘Jealous,’ ‘Details,’ and ‘Chill,’ which then leads into the album’s lead single ‘LessToLove’ that features musician/producer Imon.
Playfully sewed with candid lyrics and shrouded in rich production, the tune swings with upbeat rhythms, imprints of R&B, electronica, dazzling keys, and smooth string arrangements. LadyFingers and Imon also pair up to deliver a flamboyant back-and-forth vocal section to the melody, yielding a neat pop outing. The two are also seen in the music video directed by Payal Lamba.
Via press release, the artist touted the song as “a balm for your hurting heart that comes to your rescue when you’re just about giving up on love and yourself.” She elaborated, “It captures a conversation we’ve all had with our friends – about how hard it is to find love in a world of right swipes and fast-fading love stories – leaving behind Less to Love in each of us.”
In a nice touch, ‘We Used To Love’ also offers spoken words over an easy-going key melody in the tracks ‘PFA’ and ‘PS’ to open and conclude the album, as one would experience at a live show. Shrutika welcomes you to a LadyFingers concert on the opening bout and drops a sort of humorous disclaimer on ‘PS,’ while also expressing gratitude to her producers, friends, family, and collaborating artists on the album.
