Trailer for Drama Film Set in Berlin Techno Scene Out Now

From The Playmaker comes the trailer of ‘RAVE ON,’ a drama film set in the Berlin techno scene, scheduled to be screened at the Cannes Film Market on May 15.

The German-language film follows a music producer on a quest to find famed DJ Troy Porter to give him his new vinyl record. Directed by Viktor Jakovleski and Nikias Chryssos, the film is a “singular cinematic experience that blends a fictional narrative with a guerrilla documentary approach and immersive cinematography,” as per a statement according to Variety. Featuring Aaron Altaras (‘The Zweiflers,’ ‘Mario’) and Clemens Schick (‘DogMan,’ ‘Andor’), ‘RAVE ON’ has been filmed at real techno locations in Berlin.

Chicago house icon Hieroglyphic Being and Berlin-based upcoming DJ/producer Lucia Lu also make a cameo in the film. ‘RAVE ON’ has been produced by Andro Steinborn of Telos Pictures GmbH. “Techno music is one of the most important German cultural exports and ‘Rave On’ is raw and real as the music itself, an authentic and rare cinematic rollercoaster to bring that culture to the big screen,” says Steinborn.

The film includes techno club classics as well as tunes exclusively made for ‘RAVE ON.’ These tracks came to inception through Berlin-based artists such as DJ/producer and composer Ed Davenport, multi-instrumentalist and composer John Gürtler, and others. This 80-minute film will hit the silver screen in Germany on July 31 from German distributor Weltkino.

“‘Rave On’ is a love letter to techno music and Berlin’s nightlife. Our international distributors are in for a wild ride,” says Moritz Hemminger, The Playmaker’s head of sales and acquisitions. Taking you on a gripping journey, ‘Rave On’ will transport audiences to a techno club and give you a peek into the techno scene in Germany’s capital city.
