Soulvent Set To Drop Mountain’s Debut Album

In the last few years, a fresh injection of breathtaking Drum & Bass talent has emerged from the far east who are pushing some of the most forward-thinking Drum & Bass we have come across.

After following Makoto’s, Kiat’s and Magnetic Soul’s lead, who have been championing Drum & Bass in Asia right from its inceptive years, we have seen the likes of Radiax, Fetus, Gyrofield, 3ASiC, Kray take DnB in Asia to the wider scene. One such artist making some serious waves is Japanese producer Shigeta Kamiyama aka Mountain.

Taking Liquid DnB’s funk and soul schematics, Mountain’s music is directed to the dancefloor with one foot in the present and one foot planted firmly in the future. Born into a musical family, Mountain immersed himself into different forms of music before making Drum & Bass his standout genre.

After honing his craft, he found himself in the middle of Japan’s rich Drum & Bass scene when he started supporting the likes of Sigma, Netsky, London Elektricity, Metrik and Andy C in his hometown, Osaka.

Eventually, he released his first piece of music on Hospital Records’ ‘Hospitality In The Park’ compilation in 2017.  Shortly after his debut release, Soulvent Records signed him up to land a slot in the label’s ‘Soul Sessions’ compilation series.

Since then, Mountain’s catalogue has been a backyard of futuristic and soulful Drum & Bass that traverses between his Dark, Liquid, Pop, Funk and Jazz influences. Along with Soulvent Records who have unleashed the wide majority of his discography, the Osaka based producer has also racked up releases on labels like RAM Records, High Tea Music, Skankandbass and Med School.

Mountains last excursions on Soulvent Records was when he released the ‘Colours’ EP in 2020. Now, nearly two years later, he has returned to the label for his debut self-titled album which is all set to be released in the first week of March.

The 14-track album is a rich convergence of energetic yet emotional Drum & Bass. The album also features collaborations with heavyweights like fellow compatriot and DnB legend Makoto, Karina Ramage, Kojo, In:Most and Ruth Royall.

So far, we have seen glimpses from the album with tracks like ‘I’m Free’ featuring Kojo which is a chirpy and uplifting dancefloor stunner, followed by ‘Sahara’ which is an oxymoron taking into account the producer’s name but the tracks is a steppy and stretched back beaut featuring the producer’s trademark synth work.

‘Overload’ is a track that brings Mountain’s penchant for Rock music into the tune with its energetic electric guitar strings that are culminated with a drop that is solely meant for the dance floor.

Here is an exclusive album mini-mix from the guys at Soulvent to get you hyped for what’s to come. Keep it locked because when the album is fully out, it’s going to be special!
