Winners of the 53rd NAACP Image Awards 2022

Hosted by Anthony Anderson, the 53rd NAACP Image Awards that honor achievement by people of color in culture and entertainment, were presented on Saturday on BET.

The 2022 NAACP Image Awards heralded Jennifer Hudson as the Entertainer Of The Year. She also took home the award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her portrayal of Aretha Franklin in MGM/UA’s ‘Respect‘ while Will Smith won the Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for ‘King Richard‘. Smith played Richard Williams, father to Serena and Venus Williams in the movie.

Insecure‘ snagged the trophy for Outstanding Comedy Series. Issa Rae picked up the award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, while This Is Us’ Sterling K. Brown and 9-1-1’s Angela Bassett took home the award in the Drama Actor and Actress categories, respectively.
