Tomorrowland Voted World’s Best Festival

The famous Belgian multi-genre music festival has been voted world’s no. 1 in the DJ Mag Top 100 Festivals poll 2022.

There are few things that come close to the spectacle that Tomorrowland has been putting up for nearly two decades. They have now been recognized as the best music festival, ahead of big names like Glastonbury, Coachella and Ultra Music Festival.

A poll conducted by British dance music magazine DJ Mag received over 100,000 verified votes from October 5-26, 2022. The poll was conducted for the first time since 2019, with DJ Mag extending the awards from top 50 to top 100 this year.

Founded by two brothers, Manu and Michiel Beers in 2005, Tomorrowland started as a party of under 1000 party goers; and in just under ten years since its inception, it has become the biggest representation of dance music in the world, hosting the biggest and most prodigious talents in the scene.

Speaking about the win, Michiel Beers said, “The start of 2022 was challenging. Until February, it was still uncertain if Tomorrowland Winter was going to happen or would get cancelled for the third time in row. In the meantime, we were preparing for a very necessary third weekend of Tomorrowland in Belgium, but getting all permits in place was not a given.”

It’s no secret that festivals and clubs suffered since the outset of the pandemic in 2020, but Tomorrowland continued pushing boundaries by hosting virtual versions of the festival for two years before returning for the big blow-out in 2022. The comeback event brought 600,000 visitors from 200 countries while hosting its Winter edition in L’Alpe d’Huez in France.

“After two unprecedented years and enormous losses, there was absolutely no room for any failure in 2022. But we always kept believing, in our passionate team, the people of Tomorrow, all artists, partners and suppliers all over the world. We never let go of hope and continued to write our stories with healthy ambition, big dreams and positive vibes,” added Michiel Beers.

The poll is set to return in the month of April this year. Until then, here is the full list of the top 100 music festivals:
