Barry Can’t Swim Drops a Stunning Single on Ninja Tune

The Edinburgh-born, London-based producer has released his first single of the year featuring his ‘party energy’ style on the legendary Ninja Tune imprint.

Barry Can’t Swim, but he can definitely make music that will stay with you for the rest of your life. That’s the power of the multi-instrumentalist’s world-inspired and jazz-inflicted electronic music. Channeling his penchant for lush textures, blissed-out vocal samples and orchestral elements, Barry Can’t Swim is steadily becoming a seriously hot property in the UK and beyond.

A classically trained artist from a young age, Barry Can’t Swim made his debut in 2019 with a self-released single called ‘Because I Wanted You To Know.’ The release served as the perfect introduction to Barry’s vast musical skill set until he released his second tune nearly a year after his debut release.

Accumulating over 30 million streams on his music in just under four years, Barry Can’t Swim has been the recipient of many accolades like Billboard’s ‘Dance Artists To Watch’ for 2022, A nomination at the  Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2021,  and Annie Mac’s ‘New Names for 2021, among many others.

As good as his original productions are Barry Can’t Swim’s remixes. Since his debut, the London-based producer has racked up remixes for monumental names in dance music like Elderbrook, Bob Moses, Ben Böhmer, and Diplo. This came along with the producer garnering 13 million streams on his 2021 EP ‘Amor Fati’ EP, making it the British label Shall Not Fade’s biggest streaming release ever.

After closing a career-defining 2022 with a string of unique releases, Barry Can’t Swim has made his debut on the mighty Ninja Tune label for a delightful summertime single called ‘Sunsleeper.’ His debut on the label comes after the producer released ‘Like The Old Days,’ ‘God Is The Space Between Us,’ and ‘Sonder,’ which form a part of his latest release.

The radiant piano chords and the vocal sample which comes from Baiuca’s 2019 number ‘Mangüeiro’ lay the perfect foundation for the tune to explode and turn into an infectious and high-energy house number. Watch ‘Sunsleeper’ take over DJ sets and sundowners for a long, long time to come.
