Elif Debuts New EP ‘Medusa’ on Marginalia Imprint

Months after introducing her debut record label Marginalia, Barcelona-based DJ/producer Elif has dropped the imprint’s maiden three-tracked opus titled ‘Medusa’ with Althoff and Takiru. ‘Medusa’ EP weaves in the signature soundscape of Elif, one that demarcates her music to the crowd and has had her land on multiple acclaimed imprints. The EP kicks off with the Turkish-born artist’s original titular mix, which bases itself on an emphatic, steady motif of percussions, bassline and rip-roaring synth works.

Elif joins forces with Brazilian producer Althoff on the EP’s penultimate track, ‘Run Wild.’ Together, the producers build a medieval soundscape tethered to raw house and melodic techno, unlike the third and final offering of ‘Medusa’ EP. Tel-Aviv’s illustrious producer Takiru bands with Elif for the concluding track, ‘WTF.’ It takes on a distinct, grimy vocal cut, reeling in sentiments of 80s rock, Italo disco, breakbeat and electronica.

“This label has been a long time in the making and I’m beyond excited to finally be sharing our concept of Marginalia with the world. I’m fortunate enough to be sent truly amazing music by some of the most incredibly talented producers on a daily basis, and Marginalia is my way of shedding light on the talent that keeps this industry alive. Althoff and Takiru are two artists that I’ve got so much respect for, and I’m so grateful that they’ve trusted me with our collaborations to launch this new project,” Elif says about her debut EP on Marginalia.

Marginalia was conceptualized by globetrotter Elif to highlight and represent the works of undiscovered electronic musicians. With the solid foundation of ‘Medusa’ EP, the imprint aims to prop up a bevy of unknown underground producers to sustain and express their talents in the long run.

‘Medusa’ EP is now available to stream worldwide.
